Has anyone tried 270 grain EldX out of 338 Edge

I dont remember exact time temp ect . But this will be very close for my shot info.
Velosity - 1607.1 fps
Energy - 1723.2 lbs
Time - 1.752 sec.
9.4 mils
I use bergers hands down ! Its terminal damage on game ...when placed correctly is devastating on Critters . Just my opinion. Not looking for a thrown down match ! Ha ha

What powder charge are you running with the 300 gr Berger?

The Kreiger 29" loved 90.5 gr 338 Edge
The proof 30" was 91.5 gr 338 Edge
The Benchmark carbon 30" liked 92 gr 338 Rum .
Pleas work up , as you know all barrels are different. All with H-1000 @ 300 gr bergers . Velosity is money at 2850 in most 338 Edges . The proof seemed my fastest Edge @ 2884 ft.per.sec.
No +p or extend throat on any of them .
H-1000 was the only powder I had at the time .

Ok
I am fully aware of working up powder charges. I have a 28 nosler that I kept pushing up running a 195 Berger and reached 3263 velocity. I only shoot it when temperatures are down. So I don't advise people running the same. I tell them to work up your own firearms but gives them a idea where to start. Our proof barrel seems to like N570 more than H1000 or retumbo. I thought about throwing H50 at it.

Hello, just following along. I've got a 30" Bartlein in 338 RUM. I've only put 19 rounds downrange, so this gives me a place to start. I've gathered a pretty good selection of bullets to choose from. 300gr Berger, 300gr Sierra, 300gr Nosler ABLR, 300gr Hornady A-tips, and 285gr Hornady ELD-X and BTHP. And I've got H1000, N568, and RL-33. I was surprised to see that the RUM was a half grain above the edge!

You going to like the Rum !
You should end up in the 90 to 91.5 grains of H-1000 . & 300 gr bergers . Absolutely a Thor's Hammer on long range critters !
Every one I built , 338 Rum , 338 Edge were a bit different in powder charge ..
Cant go wrong with either one .
Keep us posted .

Why don't you hear of anyone shooting the eldx out of a 338 caliber? It seems hard to find anything on forum's pertaining to 338 shooting eldx Bullets.
I asked Hornady about the ELD-X's and the ELD-M's in the 338 RUM and was told it was not a long range cartridge and therefore there were no plans to develop load data for those bullets in this cartridge.

I've taken several deer with the 285 ELDs in my edge. Can't remember if they were Ms or Xs as I've shot both out of it. But it does a number on deer. I've only stretched it between 50 and 500 yards. Devastating results. Always a massive blood trail. But amazes me how some have ran 30 or 40 yards.

I am not a fan of the eldm on game. My son used a 6.5/284 and shot a whitetail behind the shoulder at 100 yds The buck jumped and ran 50 yds and looked back as if it was not hit. The buck turned sideways and I said hit him again then he dropped. After skinning we found 2 bullet holes. The one hole the bullet never expanded and punched a hole through. The second hole was about the size of a 50 cent piece. So I tried them again in the same gun myself and hit a buck at approximately 50 yds away and he ran into the brush never finding him.

I have heard of some people not having Berger's open up. I have not run into that yet. But I am wondering if the ones that have had issues had the nose of the bullet pinched tight no allowing them to work as designed or maybe they came from Berger with the tip pinched a little to tight in order to get high BC.
