Hammer Hunter in 308

I talked with Steve yesterday at Hammer. Call him and they will point you in the right direction. Personally I would use Varget if you have it. Look at similar weight bullets and start low and work up. I've heard many use starting recipes for the similar weight Barnes designed bullet as they're solid copper bullets also. Below is some Barnes data that may be helpful.

Thanks guys. Can I sort of copy load data for Sierra bullets? I haven't had time to call Hammer yet for their load data but it seems they are semi specific on powders and with the lack of different powders available right now I was just trying to get an idea of what loads and powders most of you guys use.
thats where i got my info on the CFE223

RL-15 if you have it.
Not to hack the OP's topic but I don't want to open another very similar question. I have RL-15, Varget and N140 but all I have is 162 gr of Absolute Hammer. I'm also looking for some load recipe for 308. Will be use for hunting mid size game here in California. Anybody who have a good recipe on the above mentioned components so I can narrow down my load development? Thanks.

No personal experience with the Absolutes yet. The Nosler data is easy to access online and the Reloader 15 still looks like a solid choice, a little more room in the case at "max" load. I've had good luck with Federal 215's to set things off in the .308. Once you get to an upper load with the Absolutes reliable people tell me advancing in small increments (0.2-0.3 grains) is prudent. A good chronograph to help verify what's happening is also a good idea if your pushing the limits.

Personally I haven't been a big .308 fan. A youth rifle and Hammer bullets have turned me around. I think the 137 Hammers are the way to go.

It's tough to let go of traditional bullet weights, but I know 3 reliable reports of large bovines being taken with bullets much lighter than history would indicate as a good idea. Big bones smashed in all 3.

I dislike government regulation as much as anybody, but these are very lethal bullets.

Since you looking at loads and powder is attached on extremes temperatures powders, and save.

Absolutes shoot like MUCH lighter bullets.
So are you telling me that a 152 grain hammer would or should be loaded like a light 130'ish grain bullet? I am very new to reloading and want to limit my purchases of material right now due to the current circumstances and lack of inventory.

im not sure if asking for others recipes for loading is a no-no because they have their own secret sauce that took a lot of time and development so please forgive me if it is. I'm just trying to limit my expenses and learning curve right now

No the 152 is the standard Hammer Hunters, the 151 is the AH. All the AH style bullets require faster burn rate powders like lighter style bullets. Or they won't achieve absolute status and just basically match what the normal Hammer Hunters do. These guys have 30 pages of data for you on here, just do a search on Absolute Hammers and you'll find it. Good info!!
