Hammer Bullets

@RockyMtnMT , so I have no need for any bullets at all as I am way over stocked on hunting bullets, but wife and I are considering your bullets for less meat damage and to avoid lead on game.

What bullet would you recommend for:
- 7mm-08 with 24" barrel with a 1 in 9.25 twist
-7mm Rem Mag with a 26" with a 1 in 9.25 twist

Both factory Remington 700's.

Thanks in advance.
Both rifle would handle up to the 143g Hammer Hunter with the 9.25" twist. I think in the 7-08 I would run the 131g Hammer Hunter. Fits a little easier in the short action and I like the higher vel in the 7-08. This is the bullet that we run in our 7-08s' at about 3100 fps depending on barrel length. The 143's will run about 3300 fps in the 7 mag.

Thanks Sir, appreciate it.

Well con
Its all relative. Guys kills stuff with partitions at 800 yards, doesn't mean its considered a long range bullet. Generally, long range hunting bullets are sleek VLD types - Berger, SMK, ELDM with high bcs - Am I crazy? I am not saying they won't work, but if we are going to start calling the hammer bullets a long range bullet, we are going to have to start including partitions and regular old accubonds and Aframes etc.

Before this thread, i had honestly never heard anybody tout them as a long range bullet - so this is news to me. Most of what you read about are guys using them out to 500-600 yards. Even guys who shoot hammers have also said on this website that if they shoot over 600 yards they will use bergers or something similar.

Well like I said I'd be willing to bet that my .375 with a hammer will shoot farther than you or I are capable of. Again it goes to what round your shooting more than anything.
Plus you can get into the debate about how far you should shoot an animal.

Predator Slayer it sure sounds to me, that you sure have a problem with Hammer Bullets. It just seems to me, you have way too much time on your hands. You bashing a Sponsor on this forum is getting old.

I'm only on one other hunting forum. So I can't speak about the other forums and why hammers aren't mentioned. I know this though. Some hunters actually care about the bullet coming out of their rifles others just buy the cheapest box on the shelf and call it good with no additional thoughts on if it's the best for what their doing. CEB's bullets outside ELR aren't all the well mentioned.
