H4350 Most Versatile Powder?

I'd say RL16 is as good or better then H4350. I've tried RL16 in a 300 wm with a 150 gr Hornady #3031 Interlock and in a test load group it shot a .444, 5 shot, at book coal. 58.2 grs shoots any 130 gr bullet I've tried in a 270 wsm excellent, and works very good in a 243 with 87 gr and 95 gr Bergers and Nos BT's as well.
If only could have 3 powders, they'd be 8208, RL16 and H1000. H4831sc would the 4th. and H4350 the 5th.
I've found some rifles like RL16 better, some like H4350 a bit better. Sometimes ES of load determines between the 2 powders. H4350/RL16 is ideal for most 6, 6.5, and .277 bullets between 85 and 140 grs.

I'm almost 78 years old and have been reloading a large number of calibers since I was 14 years old! I've found IMR 4350 to be the most versatile powder over all those years -- including many times giving me the best accuracy!
IMR 4350 was released in 1940 and turned a lot of cartridges into high velocity compared to then available powder choices.

Varget, H4350, H4895 and H1000 are in short supply at the moment as the factory where they are made in Australia is fulfilling orders for other explosive products, most of which are ending up in SE Europe.

FWIW in the country they are made,
Varget = AR2208
H4350 = AR2209 (this can leave a little carbon when fired in high humidity environments)
H4896 = AR2206H
H1000 = AR2217

Also from the same factory are Trailboss, IMR8208XBR, Benchmark, H4831SC, Retumbo and a couple of others I cannot recall at the moment.

For my money Varget is one of the most flexible powders, but if you have 4895, Varget, 4350 and 1000 you have most bases covered adequately.

Agree 100%

Amazing difference in 80+ years. IMR 4350 always seems to be accurate but in most of my loads they are slow compared to others. Sometimes I'm sorry that I purchased a chronograph!
( thanks @john k ) 🤣

That CFE223 is quite the driver!
I've been tinkering with a 308 with 150 and 165 grain NBT and that CFE 223 will push em hard.
2900+ with 150's and 2750 with 165's in a 20" barrel!
Neither were max loads. They can be driven faster.
They were the most accurate for a bump in velo compared to the standard 308 powders.
Today I shot 165 NBT with CFE under it…3 shots at 400 yards and were 2-3" spread going 2750fps from a 20" barrel!
I'm liking it!…
