H4350 Most Versatile Powder?

Big fan of Varget and IMR 4064.
Discovering H4350 in the 6mm game now though.

I adore 4064 in 308. Its excellent but not a powder thrower on planet that meters it.

Since the question is versatility and not efficiency, I will vote Trail Boss or FFG black powder. Just fill up a case and shoot.

No doubt H4350 is a one size fits all type powder, but I've also found RL 16 to kick butt in all my rifles and at higher velocities than H4350.

I've been thinking of trying Re16 in my 8mm-06 Ackley. Currently use mostly Re22 in it for Itty bitty groups. What say ye for that type of cartridge? Perhaps even H4831?

H-4350,H-4831,Varget,IMR4350,and IMR4831are all in my bench along with H-322 and IMR 4198 for my PPC and 222 Remington

I'd say Varget and RL-15. I can use both from my .223 Rem to .338 WM, and I do!

Varget and H4350 are just useless and overhyped. Too expensive as well. Temperature sensitive too. Work up a good load at 60 deg F, summer rolls around at 100 F and youll be blanking primers, might have to hammer open the bolt.

And once you get bolt open youll find you shot clear over the target. Wintertime comes around and youll be lucky to even get them to light. Or if they do the bullet will probably just barely clear the barrel.

Theyre slow too. Get 30-30 performance out of a 30-06. 308 might as well be 7.62x39.

Did i mention inaccurate? Barely hit the broad side of a barn.. while standing on the inside.

Anyways, if any of you have been suckered into investing into these no good powders, PM me for my address so u can send them to me for safe disposal (down the barrel of my 308 at 43 gr varget behind 175 sierra tmk or 57 gr H4350 w 30-06 AI w sierra 175 tmk... w fed 210M and lapua cases those are "the loads" for my setups and thats all i shoot out of them, year round, all weather, all ranges).

Did i mention they are corrosive? Make pyrodex look like hoppes #9. Eat all the rifling out of the barrel. Real short shelf life until they go like battery acid and start eating the cases too. Gotta get rid of those ASAP. 8 lb sealed jugs are the worst too, send them first

Yes, H4350 would be my #1 in the most versatile powder category. By far.

I shoot a lot of H4350, Varget and H4831, but as far as most versatile I would say H4895 as well.

The Seirra manual has H4831sc as the accuracy load with 150 gr SGK. And that charge weight worked in a neighbors model 7600 or 760 Remington pump 30-06(I can't remember model #)and in my sporterized 1903a3.
In a 8mm06AI with bullets up to 150 grs I'd think RL16 would be a good choice and I bet RL16 is faster then H4831sc and slightly better temp stability. RL16 is .34 fps per degree and H4831sc is .36 fps per degree I believe off the top of my head.

I've been looking for H4895 for a couple of years now! I found 2 pounds of it at my local Cabela's a couple of months ago and bought both. I have also tried H4350 and couldn't get good accuracy with it in my .257 Ackley Imp or my 7mm Rem Mag but continued to get under an inch at 100 yards with IMR4350 in both rifles! I've always gotten good accuracy with IMR4350 in every caliber I've ever tried with it -- which was a 6mm Rem, 257 Ackley, 270 WIn, 270 WSM, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag & 338 Win Mag!
