Gun works rifles

Or you have the guy/gal that owns his small plumbing company and works his/her butt off while making a VERY nice living. Employs a few people that he's responsible for and pays them a good wage. Calls up "Gunwerks" and buys a complete turnkey package because he can, it's immensely time saving for him, and he knows he's getting exactly what he wants. 2 weeks later he jumps in his F250 on Thursday evening and drives 14 hours there to pick it up, shoot it, spend the night or two and drive 14 hours back to home because he can only take a 3 day weekend. Monday at 4 the alarm clock sounds to roll out of bed, gets to the office at 5 and it starts all over again. Ya got to love the USA, we live in the best country. Just saying…….

PS-Antelope taste excellent. My wife's favorite wild game. Not sure why it gets such a bad wrap.

Have a great day all!
Well written..I guess I should have been a plumber though!

Anybody have experience with Master Piece Arms "MPA" & their Ultra Lite Hunter chassis?
I am playing with with one of there ultra lite hunter chassis now that a buddy bought. He had me install it on his prairie dog hunting gun. It's lite seem to function so far.

A buddy of mine bought a complete system 6.5PRC. He had some scope issues with the 318i and sent the entire gun back per Gunwerks request. Once he got the rifle back and the scope issues out of the way, it performed as advertised IMO. Shot it all the way out to 1K with precision and accuracy. ES and SD on the labRadar were very good. They also shared the load data with him and he was able to duplicate the load, and performance. It's was definitely as promised, and very professional service.

He has a Workmen .300 PRC on the way, so it will be fun to see how it plays out. I don't think he got load workup done with this one. Just factory loads dialed up to 1K. He wants to do his own load development this time.

They do offer their entry level GRB action at a very reasonable price. I used one to build my 7WSM and it's probably the smoothest cycling action I own/used. At $850 it's a no brainer and they usually have them in stock and if not they can spin one up pretty quick for you. I ordered mine in Lefty and they had it to me in 3 weeks.

What I like about Gunwerks is their forthcoming nature that you don't have to use their equipment to shoot long range. Once I was watching an episode of LR pursuit, and Mike Davidson broke down how if you have an accurate rifle, ability to shoot repeatably, way to measure atmospheric conditions and a decent angle finding range finder you can hit accurately at extended distances. He was basically showcasing the BR2 rangefinder, but also explaining how the same thing could be accomplished with multiple tools instead of 1 if need be. It was this episode that led me down the path of LR shooting/hunting. It seems they offer a high quality plug and play shooting system. Honestly, I will likely never be able to afford their rifles, but appreciate what they bring to LR shooting. I have also never seen a post about unresolved issues with their products.

Gunwerks makes a fine product and full system.

But just because the rifle is capable of 1k+ yard shots from the box, absolutely does not mean the shooter is as capable. Don't think you can buy the system and violá, you are now a 1k yard capable hunter. I have a couple stories of hunters to back this up.

Correct and I mean no disrespect to either customer. I'm just a simple guy who likes to learn and eat what I hunt.

Agreed but if you want to shoot long distance you have to have a good foundation. The problem I ran into was the time to develop that solution. My current comfort zone is 350-400 yrds on something with fur yet I look forward to practicing on paper and steel out to whatever... and increase that comfort range. My plan is to join a LR school like Gunwerks puts on and build from there. With their system I can hit the ground running so to speak.
