Goto loads for 7mm REM Mag and 160 Accubonds

My best load with that bullet is 60 grains of IMR 4831SC, Rem 91/2 primers loaded .010 off the lands in a#1. If I do my part it will shoot in .75 in. all day. Velocity is 3065fps at 2200 foot el.
Another powder you might want to try is Retumbo. I have had exellent results with 72 gr with Berger 168VLDs and Rem 91/2 primers, vel 3105 at 220 feet el. Hope this helps.

Tikka T3 with 24 3/8" barrel:

CCI 250
IMR 7828SSC - 67.6 grains
MV=3045fps

Bullet seated 0.020" off lands. This is a pretty warm load. Proceed accordingly.

I own a Ruger Mark II in 7mm Rem Mag.. This gun is over 10 years old and it has been a good shooter since the day I bought it. It is not particular and will shoot almost any good load into less than one inch, it also has a long throat and when loading it this must be taken into consideration. I am saying this to say that my loads maybe too hot for another gun. I all ways have to use more powder that the manuals say to achieve the stated velocity.

When I started loading the 160 Accubonds I used Hodgdon's 26th Addition Manual as my guide. Their data for 154-162 grain bullets gave a starting load of 71.0 grains of H1000 for 2983 ft/sec and a max load of 72.5 for 3038 ft/sec.. Even with the long throat in my gun this was quite a hot load. I got 3000 + ft/sec with 72.0 grains. I then dropped back to 70 grains for 2950 ft/sec..

Since my early loading I have looked at many Manuals and saw that Hodgdon was changing the data for H1000 and the 7mm Rem Mag. In fact the Hodgdon's Annual Manual gives only 66 grains as a max load for only 2839 ft/sec.. Speer's 14th Manual lists 69.0 grains for a max load at 2936 ft/sec..

I am say all this to say get a good Manual and follow it. Start low and go slow, looking for signs of too much pressure.

My gun shoots very well with 70 grains, RP cases, and Mag primers. As stated this may be too much for your gun.

Thanks for the info. I have the same gun and I am very happy with it.

My 7 RM is a 700 BDL. RL-22 is what I use with every bullet weight from 140g-180g with good accuracy and most times velocity. The 160g AB in my rifle with RL-22 doesn't like to be pushed more then 2900fps. If I take it to 3000fps my groups open up to 1" or more. My rifle likes 61g of RL-22, Win case, Fed 215, seated .005" off the lands, 2850-2900fps and 1/4-1/2 MOA at 100 yards.

I also tried a bit of H1000 (68-70g) and Retumbo (69g-71g) w/160g AB's and got 3000-3100fps, but groups were typically 3/4"-1" or a bit larger at 100 yards. Didn't really experiment to much though to give them a fair chance for accuracy versus the RL-22 load.

I will likely experiment with Retumbo once again when I get some more 160's and use my 7 mag for elk again. Right now I use it for deer and load it w/140g nbt's. It shoots great with 68.5g of RL-22.

Funny you should ask! I just returned from the range today working on some loads for my 7mm Rem. My best load today was 68.5 grs. of Retumbo with the 160 AB. I fired 3 shots , all touching one another that measured well inside 1/2". Velocity was 3111, the ES and SD were just ok, nothing special, but oh boy did it ever shoot! Course it's a Kirby doctored A-Bolt, that probably makes a difference!

How about imr4350 160gr accubond in a rem 700?

Warning: This load is ABOVE Max. loads listed in reloading manuals. Please reduce by 4 grs and work up.

Ruger #1 7mm Rem Mag. 26 inch barrel.

160 gr. Accubond

Win. Brass New.

3.510 OAL(long throat on chamber). Nice thing about single-shot rifles.

CCI 250 Mag Primer.

Hodgdon Retumbo 72.5 gr

avg Velocity 3025 fps (+4 deg Celcius)

Rifle would shoot 1 inch group or better @ 100 yards.

No pressure signs.

Shot 3 Mule Deer and load was devastating. Almost too much at under 300 yards. One doe take at 324 yards was just about perfect. Not much damage.

My go to load for 7MM Rem Mag is, 72.5 Gr H 1000, under the 160 Gr Accubond. Very accurate load at about 3000 fps.

One of my buddies just bought some 160 Accubonds and is looking for load data for the 7mm REM Mag and either IMR4350 or H4350.

I ran him some numbers in Quickload, but he was interested to see what everyones go to load is ...

How about it?
CCI 250
H4831 sc 63.5 gr
160gr Accubond Nosler OAL 3.364
real good load

I too have a M77 MK II 7mm Mag and run 70gr of H1000 .010 jump. No pressure signs, shoots lights out sub MOA 300yd groups with this load. I run the same load for 160AB, 162 Amax .

M700 action / 26" Krieger barrel 1:9.5 twist rate.
Accubond 160 gr with IMR 7828
I have shot 3 shot groups out to 700 yards under 3" on more than one occasion, under no wind / ideal conditions. In my rifle, this is a .25-.35 MOA load. Muzzle velo is a bit over 3100 fps.
My seating depth is .015" from lands.
