Yep, the big question will be how much the charge mass is Increased with the pressure increase, and if the charge velocity skyrockets with pressure and eats up the recoil advantage.

Anecdotally, with something like rl26, I've seen a HUGE recoil increase as a pressure sign. How much pressure was I running? No clue.

Haha I've had that happen too with rl25 in a .300 win mag. I forget what I did wrong but I made an honest to goodness mistake somewhere when I was younger and just getting into this. But before I even attempted to open the bolt I knew something was very wrong because of how hard the thing jumped and kicked me, and the SOUND. That's one thing I do wonder…how ungodly deafening is this 7 back country going to be out of a 16-20 inch pipe if you DONT have a suppressor? I imagine it will be dreadfully concussive.

Anyway, when I looked at the chrono and saw that my weatherby vanguard 300 win mag had spit a 180 grain Nosler ballistic tip out at 3460 feet per second I knew I screwed up big time. Had to open the bolt with a mallet. Primer blown out the back, brass was toast. Also broke the cheap bushnell scope it came with inside.

Do y'all think this cartridge will require entirely new primers with way thicker cups and heavier firing pin strikes to light them? Because man, all the primers I've used sure don't look too happy when you go much above 65kpsi, heck some of them get "dramatic" in their appearance well under that limit.

If this ends up being "special dies, special presses, AND proprietary specialty primers" I'm out!

Some day I will tell you the story of what happened to me, my MKV, 300 WBY and 180 TTSX and why I WILL NOT TRUST BARNES reloading data EVER again.

Back to this. I think you have fair questions, and we don't know anything how these rounds the testers fired are loaded.
Federal is a primer maker as well, maybe the made a special primer for these.
Untill reloading recommendations, data and supplies are out for these, we will not know.

I'll admit that I didn't read all the posts, so bear with me if this has been discussed already. How many current suppressors will have their warranties voided by using an 80K psi round? I know many can manufacturers already have caliber and barrel length limitations listed for their different units. The new rounds will surely spawn suppressor technology that can handle these new higher pressures seeing as that seems to be one of the goals is shorter barrel lengths for shorter OAL rifle/can combinations.

300WM, 180 Swift Scirocco, RL- 25.
Alliant Powders manual, years back there max load data Was definitely MAX.
My gun did what you described but it didn't lockup. Model 70

But if the bolt doesn't seize up that means you're still working up, right?
