favorite deer caliber

What caliber have you killed the most deer with and which caliber is your favorite. Mine is 308. Killed more deer with it than probably all the other combined. But it helps my gun for it is perfect for it Short, light, easy to walk in the woods with, easy to carry, and great treestand gun.
I ram a 30-06 for 20 years and it did a fine job. I ran the 180 gr partitions. About 10 years ago I got a Lane Precision Rifles 6.5 SAUM. That's when it was still a wildcat. I prefer the 6.5 SAUM for deer but I've shot elk with it and I think it's just too small for elk. It's ideal for deer and antelope but not nearly as versatile, IMO.

I've killed deer with many different calibers, but I killed more deer with the 6mm Creedmoor than anything else. I shoot a lot of deer on depredation Permits when the soybeans are coming up in the spring to early summer with a Ruger American 6 CM 105 gr. Berger Hybrid with a suppressor. Some days I'll shoot over a dozen deer. Ranges are usually between 225 and 475 yards. It's a very deadly round.

The 243 Winchester In a rifle. Never failed me. Been hunting with handguns for years and my favorite cal. in my handguns is the 41Magnum.

I used to rotate between a Win XTR 270 using 140g bullets and a Rem Classic 25-06 using 120g bullets every other year to take a bunch of blacktails. Now it's between the 25-06, a Win XTR 257 Roberts, and a Stewart Rifles custom 7-08, depending on my mood. All will easily get the job done for deer.

I started off with a 30-06 but recently started using .308 and 6.5 creed, both have preformed great with a little less recoil than the 06

Good day and hope that you and your family are foing well.
I know that you Post is a few months old, but what did you do with the "up to a dozen" deer a day you shot?
There is a Tree Farm less than one mile from our property and the owner has a an open permit to shoot any DEER 24/7/365. I couldn't get in the action, but he has PD Officers come over and shoot the deer at night with NV. Takes a lot of some nice Bucks out of the gene pool since we mostly do Buck Management on the properties around here. I was very disturbed one day when Edward our Rhodesian Ridgeback took off snd zi followed (tried to find him) in the back of our property. I came across a "Kill Pit". basically all the deer they shoot on the Tree Farm they just throw into a pit to rot. I was Pis***ed off because there are several Food Stations that will process Deer to feed the needy. These jerks from the PD just shoot for fun at night and let the meat rot. I did start some issues with other property owners that like to Manage Hunt this area. I had to be careful because Edward ran onto Private Property and then i was on that PP so I could be fined for being there.
Just hope that hunters that get special permits to shoot anything at least try to give the meat away for a good cause.
