Extreme Spread with Win. 6.5 Stabil

Anyone else getting large extreme spreads using 6.5 Stabil powder? In my 270 Win using the 145 gr, ELD-X I had an almost 150 fps. ES! Also saw high spreads with my 6mm Rem. too!

What primers are you using? I have read that switching to a WLR or a magnum primer will tighten it up.
I tried 6.5 staball in my 7-08 using WLR and don’t recall ES being as high as you are getting. I moved to a different powder for it because it refused to group.
I do have some loaded using 6.5 staball for my 6.5 CM but haven’t got around to shooting them.
I would suggest a primer swap and see if it helps. JMO

I was checking speeds in a 30-06 & 168 grain TTSX and the extreme spreads were small. Powder charges were up at published max (plus some) & using federal 210 match.

strange I use the powder in one caliber, 6 creed with 108’s and the ES is 3 fps. I’ve tried it on a few others but never nothing over a 20 es or so.

I use it in my 7-08AI and my current spread number is 32 with a SD of 7.2 (125 shots in this calculation).

How are you measuring your powder?

I have seen this in a few cartridges (300 WM and a 338 Sherman).

I think there is a sweet spot being close to max capacity just below pressure. If way under or way over it has given high ES.
