nothing opens folks eyes more than when they see an AR in hunting camp that runs off fodder larger than 223, I have AR's chambered in 25 wssm and 458 Socom.
RR

I also have a 458 Socom as well as a 50 beowulf..... They are awesome bush guns....

I own a RRA predator pursuit upper on a C3 Defense lower. This combo is a shooter for sure. It will surely out shoot their 3/4 moa guarantee. its never given me a any trouble. keep it clean and lubed and it will spit out anything you can fit in the magazine and ask for seconds.

Yes I own a S&W MP15 sporter 5.56 nato. I might get the 308 uppper for mine too.gun)

Certainly not.

I don't care for the platform and I don't consider it a sporting firearm.

Having said that I do own an AK47 (7.62x39) but it's a tractor gun for out in the field, in case a predator comes by. Much cheaper to shoot and cheaper to own (than an AR platform). Nothing 'sporty' about an AK either and the AK, like the AR is butt ugly.

At the risk of sounding confrontational
(not my intent) what exactly is a sporting firearm?

...anything but.

I knew that would wrankle some posters but that's just my opinion. I'm not fond of AR type platforms, much less an AK. I have an AK as a tractor gun. Nothing more.

I realize they are a popular platform, just not my cup of tea.

They may be 'sliced bread' but again, not for me. It's a poll with comment. I voted and commented.

I have 3 , 1 is a 300AAC Blackout 1 is a 223 heavy shilen barreled and the last is a Colt H-Bar , I really like them all .

I used to own a Rock River Arms A4, but sold it to purchase a larger caliber for coyotes. I wasn't happy with the lack of knock-down power of the .223 cartridge, so I stepped up to a .25-06. There's a definate power difference with this quarter bore that anchors a coyote. No runners with this caliber!

I live in Canada so owning an evil black rifle means you can only use it at an approved range, but I will finally get one anyway.
Going to get 300 blakout upper too along with a 22LR upper.
We are not allowed to even own a suppressor up here either, but what if I have a shooting house with a capture chamber I built to shoot through and my neighbours usually have no clue I shoot subsonic out of my 30-06, 300 saum, 30/30 winchester, 22LR, 45 Auto, 12 guage slug, anything I want to develope a sub for, so why not my new evil AR-15.

I have two; a Bushmaster 16" A2 and a scoped DPMS 24" Bull, both in .223. I love blue steel and walnut (rifles and handguns and have several of each) but I can and do appreciate the accuracy and sheer fun of the AR paltform. I would really like to add a .308 AR one day.
