Do you hunt from home?

The areas my hunting club has right to hunt is around the town where I live. It takes maybe 15 minutes for me to drive to my blind from home. So a typical hunting "trip" for me is to pick the kids from the daycare, have dinner with family, then gather my stuff and rifle, drive to blind, sit there until dark and then drive back home to sleep.

There's a certain adventurous feeling when actually going far away to hunt and I sometimes miss that too, but it's a huge luxury to be able to hunt after work and get back home to sleep.

The view from my back porch this morning. Feeder at about 150yds with 6 or 7 whitetails under it. Steel out past that to 425. My wife frowns on actually shooting from back porch though. Blinds are within 5-minute walk from house. Truly blessed.

Heck yea! Unless you live in Maryland and the pole barn is in Texas, then it doesn't count.

Well, I was hunting not far from there last week in Oklahoma. The stands were a lot smaller than the pole barn though

That sounds familiar. Home is 38 acres with deer in the field by the house every day, bear, bobcat, and cougar that we see sometimes, and on our walk the day before yesterday my wife and I counted at least 23 elk 200 feet from the property on timber company land.( I think we probably see these more when we don't shoot at them) We also have a 100 yd. shooting range with a concrete bench that's popular with family and friends. Beyond that lies 93,000 acres of state forest. (We hunted bear there today.) We still prefer hunting/camping trips when we can. Just 2 weeks ago we camped and hunted elk about 50 miles away with family and friends. Came home empty handed and wet, but happy. The home herds can be in reserve for hard times.
