It's a waste of time

until you jamb your action from high primers, then it's simply something you should do whether it increases accuracy or not. Bolt rifles aren't bad with high primers, but try that in your 44 revolver or your ar....

I clean them and the flash holes .This step causes a person to sight the flash hole for concentricity also.I just don't mind any extra steps .I don't use a tumbler though.If you don't clean the pockets the primer might not seat the same every time

I don't know if it works better as I've never bought any case cleaning solution off the shelf.

I use a 1:1 vinegar water solution with about 10 drops of Dawn soap. I have a heat setting on mine and I run that one cycle (5 min) to warm it up and then run it without heat for the rest of the time.
