Carbon removed with petmatex gasket remover?

Found a post on another forum from Dec. 2017 .Guy said that he removed baked on carbon from motorcycle piston in 10 minutes of soaking with petmatex gasket remover it wiped off clean as new!! Tried other carbon remover products but after an hour or more nothing happened with them? Has anyone tried this? Know about this test? Sounds great but what about adverse effects?

I might try it on an old engine but not my rifle barrel. I know shooters that use CLR on stainless barrels and swear by it. I, however, am not going to use a product that is not developed and intended for cleaning a gun. Barrels cost too much.
