Best long range rangefinder for the common man

I currently have a Vortex 1500 that hasn't been working out well. I would really like to put the reticle on an object, hit the button, and receive a range.

What's everybody using?

I've been very happy with the Sig 2000. Not so much with the Bushnell products.

I've had a Leica 1600-B for about 6-7 yrs now and the ranging part has been terrific. I use it in conjunction with a ballistic app on my phone. That part of the 1600-B is not worth a hoot IMO. It works off of ballistic curves and they are not even close. johnnyk.

I've been using a Leupold 1000 but it only works on game to about 600 yards. Be aware of this issue that the range a rangefinder is rated for is for reflective targets and effective ranging on game will be less. I recently bought a Sig Sauer 2200 because a couple of buddies have it and have had excellent results with it and I've read a lot of great reviews of it too. I can't wait to give it a try.

Another one running the sig 2000. Actually we have 3 of them in the family and they all have been decent range finders. The bushnell that I have had have been extremely hard on batteries.

I have had a sig kilo 2000 for over a year. Haven't had any opportunity to use other higher end rangefinders. Have been pretty happy with the sig. Summer performance is notably better though here in PA, with more reflective foliage. Winter is OK but definitely doesn't get quite the same range in my experience. However, still ranges deer waaaaay father than I can confidantly shoot. My money is on SIG

I recently picked up a Leupold 2800 just because I got a heck of a deal on it.

So far I've been very impressed. I've ranged cows consistently beyond a thousand and bigger reflective objects to over 2000yds.

If the speed which the rangefinder returns a result is a concern, look to SIG

Personally I went with a Leica 1600-B because I place more emphasis on optical quality.

Most rangefinders have a scan mode where, by holding the range button down the unit will continually range and return results, faster than most humans could press a button.

I really like my Nikon Black Rangex 4000. Had it to 2400 & the display is instantly!! Not a bad price either.

I like the sigs as well. I use the 2400ab. It hits deer at 1500 no problem and reflective targets to just over 3000

I picked up a Leica 2000B after getting to play with one in the field. Super fast compared to my bushnell I've had for the last 10 years. Eurooptic has them for $399.

I've always wanted to find Bushnell products that suited my purpose since my first scopes were Bushnell's but todate, over the forty years since that first scope I have yet to come across one of their products that fit the bill.

For the price, some of the better ones are...

The Sig Kilo 200/2200
Nikon 3000/4000
Leica 1600

There may be some other ones out now that are good and in the sub $600 range, those are just the first ones that come to mind. I personally have the Kilo 2200, it does pretty much everything I need. The next rf I get will be a higher end bino set, when I can save up enough for one.
