Best 600y elk cartridge to built on top of 270 Win Tikka action

this is good info! would berger 180 hybrids be too long for tikka mag?
Tikka mag with a 162 ELD-x. I got no pressure signs in Peterson's brass at 3000fps using 59 grains of 4831sc. Load was actually seated deeper than this.

The problem isn't velocity it's dealing with the bearing surface seated below the donut area at the base of the neck.
Eventually it'll show up and you'll have neck tension /pressure issues if you don't ream the necks

Simple dbm and switch to a acis mag addresses all coal issues under 3.6".
So the red snake metal and acis mags will run say 300 win mag with 215 berger no problem at 3.6? And what needs to be modified? Grinding some off trigger area? How about the front of mag , besides inletting, I get thats custom.
I put atlasworx acis in a savage and would not like to hunt with those metal mags. I bet plastic one are quieter ? No rattles?

For the factory stock, approximately 1/8" of stock material will need to be filed from the plastic back side at the front pillar platform.

It may need a small notch in the ramp as it can vary to get the full 3.6" but that is not needed at all to get 3.5+. It uses the 3.715 ACIS winmag mags

Here's the video of the process. It's quite simple for tge basic install.

I just built one with a 40* shoulder, should have contemplated a bit more it works good and everything but I'd save the headache and go straight 284 win or if custom 7-6.5 PRC
Yea I would go straight 284 also, but the op seemed to want something different. How about a 35 Gibbs. Now that would kill, not sure it's even a thing.

On that action, in 7mm, if you want to shoot heavier/higher bc bullets, I would do the .284 win. If your ok using lighter or lower bc bullets, or seating deeper for a short enough OAL, then a .280 ai would get my vote. Or as stated, if you want more, get a mag bolt and run a 7 saum/7 Sherman max/7 wsm. No bad choices, just different ones.
THIS ^^^^^^^^^!

Almost 2800 with a 205 and a G1 of .63; the old '06 got not flies on it. This is the RL17/215M workup. No further tuning like seating depth, etc. I like the speed of RL17, but the narrow nodes aren't as friendly as I'd like. I have the 200 ELDX and WIN brass load to 2900 and sub 1/2 MOA if the above isn't somehow enough…

Here's my 284, 168 ABLR elk load. I've got a neck turning kit but not sure I'll need it even if I get donuts.

Nice you should be good to go with the bearing surface above the donut area.
The only thing sexier in that photo would be a 168 vld
