6.5 PRC built on Tikka action

My T3 PRC is built on a short action stop. I used WSM mags and pulled the magazine OAL spacer rear with a file. Feeds flawlessly.

Just had a 6.5prc built on a tikka 7mm rem mag. Used factory magazine and it feeds perfect,

Is this only about the Tikka or actions in general? If actions in general then you have 3 choices, SA, Medium, LA. They all work just fine. The issue with a short action is if you are using a standard stock with a internal mag or restricted mag to the 2.8ish COAL. If that's the case you need to consider a wyatts and modify the action a little or go to a aics 308 mag without binder plate or a wsm mag. I run a 308 w/o binder plate in my rifle and can get 4 rounds in the mag at 2.950 COAL. I spread the feed lips out enough to run the cartridge smoothly and it call it good. I do spread the front of the feed lips a little more then the back so the cartridge tips up a little and it cycles very well.

Good to know! What is the mag length for the 6.5CM rifles??

It's the M+ mags labeled specifically for the 6.5 CM. I think they are 2.9" but don't quote me on that. I can measure tomorrow.

Keep in mind the coal for factory Hornady 6.5 prc is right at 2.92 or so, and will NOT fit in the M+ magazines. A 300win/7mg mag is needed, or a billet HCA mag.

I found this video on how to modify the bolt stop, that is good news so far.
My only question is, if I have a WSM rifle, will a long action magnum tikka magazine fit the WSM action?

The magazine box is the same on all tikkas. The difference is in the magazine itself and the bolt stop. You can use a short mag magazine in a long bolt stop and it works just fine. Bolt can just come back further than is required. -

I didn't like the way a 6.5 PRC to fit in my 300WM tikka magazine. Glad to hear a 7mmRM tikka mag fits... i May try that. I modified my Tikka 270WSM mag so it can accept longer cartridges, but if I'm adding a second magazine it would be nice to just buy a factory one.

A prc wouldn't fit the 300wm but it will a 7mm mag? Why would they be different?

I was just about to post the same thing. They have the same rim and case body diameter. Now I could see a feeding issue but not fitting the actual round in the mag.

I've been inquiring the same type of thing for a 300 wsm, and also getting mixed reviews on fit into the tikka factory long magnum magazine. It may be just on the ragged edge of fitting that Fat cartridge, to where some fit and others don't. Darn it!
