Bear protection handguns?

That would make a mess. 22 better 😉
You could use a 6.5 Creedmoor. Our neighbor "The real Gunsmith" says it's not even powerful enough to kill antelope....

An old buddy of mine used to shoot turkeys with a 223. He used all metal jackets so that they would pencil through. That way, almost the meat was lost.
I had a Savage 24F 12 gauge with the 223. With a factory composite stock. Back in 1991. Then I sold it. Really wish I had it back. I scoped it. I could nail a 5 gallon bucket dead center w/ sabot slugs. It was somewhat short and handy. I used it for deer a few years. Brush hunting with slugs. I won it in a raffle at work for 2 dollars. I see they sell for a real good dollar today. Mine was a all black stock.
