What's the bolt, barrel extension, and magazine setup on the WSSM's? You can't run those on an AR-15 bolt.

What's the bolt, barrel extension, and magazine setup on the WSSM's? You can't run those on an AR-15 bolt.

It's a mag bolt face, but unsure where you could get it from as I have magnums in ar 10's. A good mag is the issue! Wish I could get 1 that keeps them stacked properly. Yhe extensions in mine are a single ramp as I'm using 308 mags and it holds the cartridge in the center. Probably he's tweaking metal mags to function.
The wssms run an oversized bolt and bolt face so each magazine has to have the notch holding the mag in slightly opened up. My magazines came from jard, but Im pretty sure that they are just modified 458 socom or 450 bushmaster mags. The barrel extensions are slightly over sized from a regular 5.56 as well, not too different.

Yeah, it would be nice to have an ar 10 platform wssm, the over all length of 2.3 definitely becomes an issue with the 6.5 and 7mm wssms.
I have two buddies shooting the .277 Wolverine, I know they both like it. They love shooting 90 gr Gold Dots for everything. It's probably one of the best performing bullets for the Wolverine.
However, my one buddy hates me for it. I bought a used 16" HBAR barrel, and I decided I didn't want to get invested in it. My buddy showed interest and I mailed it to him and said Merry Christmas in July! He said a free barrel never cost him so much.
I just decided it wasn't going to do anything my 5.56 couldn't handle. Besides my yearly OK white tail hunt, an AR-15 just isn't my go-to mountain hunting rifle. So I shoot mainly prairie dogs and coyotes with the AR, which is why I've never really had anything else than the 5.56 until I built my .300 BO pistol.
One of my buddies with the Wolverine also built the .358 Yeti from MDWS. He likes it better than the Wolverine. He says it just his harder and puts things down quicker for deer and hogs.
A 243 wssm would be great with the 1/10 twist bullets since they arent too long. Even the 1/8 twist bullets are achievable, just buried in the case.

What is the heaviest bullet you can shoot out of the 243 WSM?
I really like the idea of the 277 wolverine, being able to have the same capacity mags as a 5.56, I would have liked to get a bunch of the nosler solid bases, but I heard some bad things about them, so the gold dot is the best for the 277 wolverine. I would also definitely look at the maker bullets, if they ever come in stock.
I would personally get a 1/10 twist so 100 gr bullets, but I believe could shoot the longer 1/8 twist bullets like the 108 eldm, I think it would have enough of the bullet sticking out for the ogive to not be buried in the case.
The only problem is sourcing the components, the upper can be purchased whole from D Tech or you could build one with Jard components. Finding 243 wssm is tough, but there is plenty of 25 wssm either here https://bhammo.com/winchester-25-wi...es-wsc25wssu/?sku=795217&avad=74383_b3eee22a5
