Anyone using Ruger American rifles??

I to own a Ruger american predator. Mine is chambered in .243 win. I like the gun. Its good for the price. My brother had one in 6.5 creedmoor. We both filled the butt of the stock to get rid of the hollow sound and balance the gun out a bit. I to am going to bed something in the forearm to stiffen it up. I also am going to glass bad the action to the stock.

For what they are they are good. I would buy another.

As I mentioned I have a Boyd's laminated wood stock on my RAP. Boyd's makes three or four styles of stocks for Ruger American rifles. I got fish scale checkering for my Classic model and for $35. it was well worth it. The checkering is perfectly done by a CNC laser cutter.

I do like Boyds and have thought about adding one, but I also like the rugged durability of the tupperware stock...I just don't worry about hurting it while I'm hiking around. Did you bed your Boyds stock? How much total weight did it add? Affect accuracy at all?

Not a ruger american owner but a guy I shoot with has 2. He put a boyds laminate stock on one and it looks quite handsome. The problem i have with it though is with the factory plastic trigger guard/mag well. The action screws go through it and you are sandwiching the plastic between wood and the bolt head. Obviously the plastic deforms and you can't consistently torque the screws. Probably not a big deal but it bothers me. I do like them though and both of his are quite accurate. I also like the amount of left hand options they have. I will most likely buy one in the future

One of the guys who use my range has one. Seems pretty accurate at 200 yards. I don't care for the furniture at all but then I'm a Manners or MacMillan person. My observation is, the stock looks chintzy. Bolt raceways are pretty sloppy but for the price, I don't expect a honed fit. On par with a 700 action and like a 700 action, needs a real aftermarket trigger.

I'd say Ruger has a nice, entry class winner.

There is aftermarket furniture, and they 'seem' pretty accurate ate 700 yards, too....

Beautiful rifle, how much weight did the MDT chassis add?

Anyone have one in .300 Blackout? Any aftermarket stuff like triggers and stocks? Minus the mdt chassis. I'm sure it's nice, but I like my rifle looks on the conservative side.

I'm disappointed that the majority of .300 blackout rifles are in AR platforms especially since it started out in the TC Contenders.

My friend has one in 308, its bone stock and with varget and nosler 150gr bt's it shoots a ragged hole at 100. It's unreal for the price.

That is about 4 pounds too heavy for my taste and liking. Fine if you are stationary, not good for carrying and the tube with the can is too long. That piece in a backpack carrier would be hanging up on everything. You sure aren't going to put it in a scabbard and do a horseback hunt either.... Won't fit.

Seems to be the 'fad' today. I'm with you. You won't find any AR Stoner platforms or clones in my gun cabinet. I don't care for the looks or functionality. Pistol grips belong on an AK 47, not on a sporting rifle.
