Ruger American predator

I bought one in 6.5 Creed and could not believe how good it shot with factory ammo. I tried three different factory loads and all shot less than a half inch. The rifle is as rough and crude as they come, the stock is crap but the rifle shoots lights out! Sorry to the OP, I know its not a 22-250 but it does say something for how good the Predator's shoot! I think he would be happy with the rifle. I know I am.

I don 't think he can go wrong buying one of these. I agree on the stock but with their v-block mounting system the barrel is at least free floated. I just added a 6mm and will replace the stock. Interesting that the MDT AICS mags give you more seating room for hammers.

The best bullets out of my 6.5 CM are the 140 ELD-M w/ 40.3 grains H4350. A close second is 140 BTHP Hornady with 40.5 grains H4350, followed closely by 142 SMK with 40.8 grains H4350. This pic is from Hornady factory loads.View attachment 445819
I use hornady 129 gr.sp winchester staball 6.5 -44.4 grs, and 143 gr,eld x - 43.5 grs. staball 6.5 wouuld like to see what sweet spot staball 6.5 powder would be for your rifle in the 140 eldm and the 142 smk. try it and give me your target results. that way we both my have 2 more loads to shoot from the 6.5 creedmoor american preditor.P>S loved the 5 shot group GAME ON

I have multiple Ruger Americans. The Predator models are fantastic shooters. I have a 22-250 in the regular American. 1/10 twist. Skinny barrel. Shoots 50-55 gr bullets sub half inch. Tried 60 gr partitions with the idea of antelope hunting with them but they were sprayed all over the target.

Uglier than sin. Shoot waaaayyyyy better than they should. I bought 2 for the wife, a .308 since I had 6-10,000 LC cases and she is a brass flinger, and a 6mm Creedmoor. She is better than she used to be but still will knock a rifle around. Annndddd she wants a light rifle. Threw generic loads at them, .308 shoots 5 shots less than a half inch, 6mm is even better. Only complaint since they are non mauser types is you need to keep them somewhat clean under the extractor or they will not chamber. I do consider them more shooting rifles than hunting rifles for this very reason.\

I shoot 55 grain Sierra's in my 22-250 and they are just deadly on Lopes!

My son wants a 22/250 an he's thinking about the Ruger predator. Any info on this rifle would be appreciated. Thanks
why? if u want a cheap gun and use of the shelf rounds good, if u want to shoot long range chucks not best choice, the fast twist tikka is nice if u handload u can use heavier bullets and shoot up to smaller deer size game

By the way, concerning groups with my 6.5 CM RAP, the very best groups I got were using IMR4451 powder with 140 ELD-M bullets, 39.5 or 39.7 grains. These were one holer groups.
Also by the way, these rifles are not just for 100-200 yard ranges. I have taken mine out over 600 yds, hitting the gongs when guys with the "better" rifles couldn't.

I tried the same thing with the same results. I went to a 65 grain game king and a 68 grain BTHP and those worked well.
