Any Model 70 love out there?

I've been a pre 64 Model 70 fan since I was a kid. I bought my first pre 64 from my uncle in 1973 which I still have and hunt with. I've had 6 pre 64's, gave one in. 270 Winchester to my oldest son a few years back. I still have 5. The 30-06 that I bought from my uncle in 73 is my go to and lucky rifle, it has accounted for most of my elk and a lot of "first ' on big game animals. I have worked up loads for all 5 of my pre 64 Model 70's over the years to get the accuracy I require. I also had a push feed Model 70 in. 270 Winchester that was very accurate and I gave that one to one of my granddaughters and she now hunts with it.

I go old school. My pre 64 70's are custom builds, a 270 built by Sterling Davenport and a 25-06 built by Dale Goens.

I have had two model 70's, and both are push feeds. One in .270 went to my youngest son. The other was a $250.00 pawn shop buy back in the early 90's. It was a 30-06 in rough shape. A couple of my kids took their first big game animals with it. About twenty years ago Hazer at Bison barrels North of Gillette, WY built me a 25-06 stainless barrel, trued the action and installed it for me. The action went into a B&C Medalist stock. The trigger was inconsistent, so it was replaced with a Timney. It shoots 117 grain Sierra Game kings into .5 MOA holes out to 400 yards. I really like the rifle, and I am sure it will go to one of my kids in the future.

I have a pre war 30-06 that I picked up in Alaska but the rifle that now goes everywhere with me started as a BOSS and I had Lex at Rifles Inc in Pleasanton TX give it a makeover. I kept it 300wm and it is an absolute hammer.

I have my dad's '61 m70 264wm and about a '15 moder of same cartridge. The later has a horrible looking chote stock and the '61 still has original stock.
Like you I inherited by dad's '60 264wm and had high hopes of making it my 'go to' long range hunting rifle but I get a lot of shot variation at 100 yards. I've tried over a half dozen loads, including some factory loads, without much success. So disappointing, but I also have his '40 m70 30-06, which shoots great.

Don't have any pics but there is a safe queen in the back that's a .308 feather weight. My stepmothers mom gave it to my dad because she knew he would take care of it, its been a safe queen most of its life I believe its never had a scope mounted to it. Dad passed it on to me about 15 years ago.

Model 70s where always my family's go to and still love them. We have ended up with a good many of them over the years. I like looking for the rare hard to find ones. Still some I'd like to get one day but I got time. This is a stainless featherweight in 325 wsm and a laredo in 7mmstw. Also model 70 push feed was fiesta gun I ever re barreled myself still have it and shoots great.

Anyone else a Model 70 weirdo like me? Seems we are becoming a rarity these days. I'd love to see some pics and specs of other 70's out there. I'll get the ball rolling because I want to give a big shout out to Diamond T rifles in Craigmont ID, one of the few shops that will work on Model 70's these days. They do a fantastic job, I couldn't be happier with the build I just got back from them. Rifle below is my 90's vintage stainless classic in 300 PRC with a 22" proof barrel, SRS ti two port break, and a McMillan game hunter handle. It's been lightened a bit and has a titanium Murphy Percision pic rail. It shoots 215 Bergers and 199 Hammers in the 4's all day. Let's see some more 70's.
Shawn at Diamond T is the real deal and very talented. I also have used the Murphy Precision titanium pic rail and love it.

22-250 imp, 243, 6.5 prc, 264 mag and 270 both pre 64's, 270 WSM, 30 nosler, and 330 Dakota, 375 H&H. All on model 70's. Ya there is some love here for model 70's. LOL!!
My Ugly Stick, 22-250 imp, but my go to for coyotes, couldn't even venture a guess how many this rifle has smoked. Hart barrel with a Brown Precision stock which I bedded and painted, Barrel was installed and chambered by a neat and good gunsmith by the name of Norm Thompson before he passed.

Oh!! And forgot a Laredo 300 mag with the Boss.!!!

I love my Model 70 Super Grade. Chambered in 270 Win. Sadly, it had the worst bedding job ever from the factory. Soft putty stuffed everywhere. Had it re bedded. Very Handsome Rifle. I love the look, the feel and the balance. A true classic hunting rifle. I have just one more I need to buy, A model 70 ( Super Grade ) in 300 H and H . Just because.
