Here's a XTR chambered in .270 that I picked up at a pawn shop. It looked like death warmed over with a bell and Carlson synthetic stock that paint was wearing off and showing fiberglass. Someone took they're bloody hands and grabbed the barrel and didn't clean it up fast enough and it left they're finger marks on the barrel. Only thinking it had going for it, was it had a older model Redfield sitting atop of it. That ol girl shoots 130gr sierra soft point loaded by federal lights out. Had trigger adjusted down to 4lbs or so, cerakoted, VX3 3X9X40 and a stock I had laying around from a different gun.

Anyone else a Model 70 weirdo like me? Seems we are becoming a rarity these days. I'd love to see some pics and specs of other 70's out there. I'll get the ball rolling because I want to give a big shout out to Diamond T rifles in Craigmont ID, one of the few shops that will work on Model 70's these days. They do a fantastic job, I couldn't be happier with the build I just got back from them. Rifle below is my 90's vintage stainless classic in 300 PRC with a 22" proof barrel, SRS ti two port break, and a McMillan game hunter handle. It's been lightened a bit and has a titanium Murphy Percision pic rail. It shoots 215 Bergers and 199 Hammers in the 4's all day. Let's see some more 70's.
I`ve got a good pre 64....264 mag....95% NRA all original if you guys collect them.... pics on request...

Started my hunting with a Model 70 over five decades ago and still own six….Three pre-64's(30-06, 300H&H, 458WM African), and three post 64's( 30-06, 270WSM, 458WM African). A frequent hunting companion in many memorable hunts..(including the 203" Typical Mule Deer in my ID picture).
My favorite rifle for 50+ years, a 1958 Model 70 Supergrade, 30-06). still shoots sub MOA.
