Accuracy of Winchester model 70

Been waiting for a long time to acquire one and they seem unavailable. Saw a delivery date as of late August this year and optimistically waiting. When did you acquire yours?
Oh my, so I can date it with the anniversary issue of the 30-06 Super-grade. I was stoked about the engraving and order it in 264 Win Mag, but the only engraved commemorative version was for the 30-06. So 2006?

I ordered it that year and received it early next year if iirc.

1 have 2 mod70's in 264wm (1 pre64, 1 post) 26" sporter's. The pre is '61 manufacturered and not sure of the manufacturered date of the other. I've inly shot it 3 times (3 shots total down the barrel). Purchased new in '15 or '16. Both have a 9t and I have shot up to 140's in the pre with great results (don't know what moa it was). Shot using sierra 85, 100 and 140 (Sbt not smk's). It still kept under 1moa past 2,500+ rounds. Winchester won't replace the barrel unless it shoots worse than 1.25 or 1.5 (not sure which I was told).I'd buy 1 gladly as it's my favorite cartridge since '78 (13yo). I added to the 264wm collection with a 110 action 32" 7.5t barrel I built. The pre64 had quite a volume of imr4831 used in it and a small amount of imr4320. Shot factory ammo (win superX, but need to check which bullets) until '84 when I started reloading. I still use (used) the same brass all the way thru (about 200 pieces) until I stopped shooting it.

What kind of fps per bullet weight are you getting from the 32" barrel?

I own a Portugal built M 70 in .375 H&H and a pre-64 M70 in .264. The fit and finish on the newer is equal to say the least. The quality of the machining is as expected from modern machines. The pre-64 has been tuned and operates flawlessly. The new one is built better. While the factory twist on the .264 is 1:9 it groups 90 to 140 under 1/2" at 200yds. I have others to fill the heavier gap so no need to go heavier. I still have and load the hornday pre interlock 140 gr and they are excellent along with Sierra 120 BTSP and 140GK. I also have several 140 Winchester 140gr Power-Points (factory yellow box) from the 70's and they all shoot at 1" or better. It was my father's gun now mine and while a little light for Elk I have used it for everything smaller. It das done the job on many OR, WA, ID, WY, and now SD whitetail and mule deer. It was just re-barreled with a pre-64 takeoff and shoots better than ever.

Many of the model 70s are greatly improved when they are trued.

As the 264s get long in the throat, a 140g Sierra btsp will often still shoot very well, but up to that point, I shot the 129g Hornady Sp which acts like a partition bullet on deer, IMR 4831, with 9 1/2 primer around 3150 fps in the two that I owned.

I haven't shot it yet as I haven't added an optic orload deleted either. Built for 150smk's, but might try heavy 140's and other 150's. QL w/570 was calculating 3,300+. Time will tell. I have way to many other guns that need load development.
