Colorado Third season OTC bull hunt for meat. Seen lots of cows and spikes, not to many legal bulls. The weather was warmer than normal and no snow. Shot this bull at 905 yards with a berger 180vld-h bullet out of a 7mmPRC. MV is 3015fps and impact velocity was 2100 and energy 1800 ft.lbs
First shot was broad side double lungs and bull hunched from the impact and turned quarting toward me, second shot was high front shoulder in which dropped him.
Just wanted to show a pic of front shoulder to show how berger bullets penetrate perfectly through high front shoulder scapula.

Nice shooting! I'm guessing the VLD did a number on the lungs too.
It was dark. I did not autopsy the gut area. I'm sure they were completely destroyed. I do the gutless method in the field. I only make a small slit under the spine at the last rib bone to remove the tenderloins.
