7prc or 7mag

7 RM. I have worked up loads on 5 different 7 PRC's this year and I am not impressed with there performance for the the amount of powder they burn. My Saums run close to the same velocity with 5 grains less powder ! I have had several 7 mags that would easily out run the prc. I reload all my ammo, but the factory stuff I did try in the 7 prc was really a turd.

Start looking at the Pierce rifle reviews. Then run away on different forums. It's not pretty.

7PRC is the easy button.

28 nosler with a long throat would be my choice if 3000fps was the plan. Then I'd shoot 180 eldms!

So I have become a Fierce hater myself. If they would just fix their crappy stocks they would have something but I think that's where they cut corners. First off, they don't bed anything and there are no pillars at all. You take the barreled action out of the stock and it's just a sloppy looking mess in there where they did the inletting. His had two cracks around near the action screw holes. His action was moving back and forth in the stock which you can see the action has rub marks on it. You couldn't hold a zero with that rifle to save your life. And this was with their Carbon CT Rival!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a fierce carbon rival in one of the 7s but can't decide which one to get. I was wanting a 22" barrel but I've been seeing slow velocities with the 22" so maybe I'll get a 24" instead. What's everyone's experience with velocity in 22" barrels and opinions on 7prc vs 7mag. The fierce comes with 8.5 twist in 7 mag so I'd still be able to shoot heavier bullets
7 mag. You will be disappointed in the performance of the 7PRC. You will not get close to advertised velocity.

As I said, POT LUCK. I researched these rifles extensively, wouldn't drop a cent on one ever…
There are far better rifles on the market with better quality control for a much better price.

Cheers.

I don't care too much about it being bedded or not because I'll just do it myself but not having pillars is wild! I seen backfire do a video about the inletting looking crappy but that was the older rivals and he said if it wasn't a tack driver I'd be ****ed about it looking sloppy. I wish you could test rifles before buying them😂

I'm all ears? I just want a quality rifle that shoots through the same hole. Don't say Christensen though…those are fn terrible

Bergara if pushed or Seekins.

Unfortunately for me, choice has me building customs, but if going factory, these 2 are in the lead.
There are many others, but again choice is the problem with getting quality for the money.

Cheers.

I might just say f it and build a custom too
Now your talking!!! Seekings stocks don't give me a warm feeling until you handle one. And my God they SHOOT LIGHTS OUT Customer service excellent as well.

Welcome to the Club! It won't be your last...Also, the season for falling out of love with the new girl in the safe is about to start after Christmas. If your patient you can save yourself some time and cash too on a proven shooter.

I would worry more about a fierce rifle than which 7magnum. Get a Seekins instead. Have seen issues with the ones I worked with and have heard other reviews of the same. I went 7PRC over the WM for 284 cal. Epsicailly with a shorter barrel. Still shoot the 300 WMs in the belted though.
I own 2 Fierce rifles both CT Edge models (Sako 85 clones) and both are shooters. I cannot speak for their other models, but the CT Edge models are good Rifles. As far as the PRC vs RM issue. Unless you are shooting long range (extended distance) and absolutely have to have about 5 to maybe 8 grain heaver bullets if you're lucky (1 in 8 vs 1 in 8.5 twist) its apples to apples, oranges to oranges. Now if you handload you can tweak out a little more from the RM because of case capacity. I've measured 4 to 6 grains (water capacity) more from the 7mm RM. Another benefit from the RM is popularity (if you shoot factory ammo). I like both calibers, but I always seem to grab the RM. This is just my 2 cents!

Yeah I know it has more case capacity. But I guess I'm just confused on why 7 prc is such a big thing I thought it was supposed to shoot higher bc bullets faster but people are struggling to get 3k with hand loads? Or was it all strictly from a factory stand point?
MARKETING, MARKETING, MARKETING!! Let's sell more guns and ammo!!

I was thinking about a seekins too. I'm just not a big fan of how cheap their stock feels, but at least it's bedded to the action. The other nice thing is they have proprietary mags. I feel like if you can't shoot a fierce or seekins it's the shooter not the rifle. I've seen a few reviews of people not getting them to shoot but who knows if the shooter can shoot 1/2 moa because I've also seen a ton of people shooting through the same hole. What was wrong with yours?
I have a seekins PH2 300 PRC. It has been the absolute most consistent shooter for me. I have not touched it for 6 months, whip up a batch of ammo, head to the range, still dead on. I would not suggest it for competition high round count shooting as the light barrel will heat up quick. (Cools down quick too) but for hunting it is my most consistent zero first shot every day. Also, if you are not all setup for one of the 7's, I'd go with 7PRC. I think there are good explanations for that already.
