I can NEVER understand WHY,WHY someone who plans a hunt , spends hard earned Rubies on a Hunting, Long Range , Target rifle that they are not a handloader !!! DA HEY BOB . Are you really going hunting with Ammo that is second rate to hand loads that are put together with labor of love for the sake of accuracy, a bullet that does what it is supposed to do, to take an animal with the most humane way possible, with after endless hours of load work up, practicing at the range, and when possible on public land shooting at tires with card board placed in inside with a bulls eye of 6"s rolling down a hill . Its great practice will show you how much you need practice. Also do the math on handloads verses Factory rounds. That my son is why factory loaded manufacturers spend sooo much money on all the hype!! The first thing you'll find out is that your rifle you spent all that money on is just like a lot of the women I grew up around, they either were so finicky that there mood changed from day to day or they could play in the mud come home and ask you what would you like for dinner? What I am saying is that all rifles are a little different in the way they were made. Some shoot all day with a dirty barrel some if your lucky will shoot around 20 or so then need cleaning. And cleaned right. I started handloading in 1959, because My first custom rifle was a 300 Weatherby, I worked in the fields all summer, mowed lawns, cleaned septic tanks with my Grand Pa, saved all my money and had the rifle built ,then started hand loading as Factory Weatherby shells were far to expensive. Most writings are opinions, everybody has one just as everyone has a you no what. Most gun writers that write for a living will never bash a firearm manufacturer, just say that the wind was blowing or a rainy day, but hey ,if you hunt or punch paper there are few perfect days. So what I am going to say is this, if its not broken don't fix it , if you want a new toy do your homework, find out about availability of handloading supplies, do your homework on powder, there is a big difference between H 4198 and H1000. If your getting way more velocity out of your rifle than what factory specs say, please never shoot next to me. I have seen some that someone made mistakes with wrong bullets ,primers or powder charges. As with no toys I think we all LOVE THEM ,but if it uses the same powder, bullet weight and come out of a much shorter case and the same barrel length and is faster than by quite a bit ,do your reading first before buying one, if you still in the want then hand load ,but do it like the book says and do not expect miracles!! The only interesting rifles to me are accurate ones ,one that is easy to shoot and is constantly consistent in its reliability. Keep it and stop reading about all the wants, Pete
