7mm PRC is here. SAAMI specs out

Fortunately, the Rah-Rah wanna-be influencers like this half wit are years behind the curve on having the 'first' 7mm PRC. Besides, his appearance and persona are created for the camera from his perfect white teeth to his one or two day stubble. We see this type of brand hyping wanna-be all over YouTube where they congregate.
pretty rude and uncalled for imo

This is exactly why I can't stand youtube ninjas.
There are so many things wrong with his comparisons that I won't attempt to address all of them.
However one thing that's truly stupid is his velocity comparison between the prc and 7 RM with identical loads, he's excited that the 7 prc was over 100 fps faster with said load even though the case capacity is less than the 7 RM..
Well what a shocker 🙄 the bigger case didn't get a chance to reach equal pressure cuz there's more volume.

The last thing I'll rant about is the continued reference to faster twist rates with the prc, if homeboy did a Lil research he'd find a pile of 7 RM options with 8 twist barrels.

Obviously when it comes to factory loads the prc will have the advantage with heavier bullets above 175 grains, but he's comparing handloads and biasing the whole thing to make the prc look like there's a measurable velocity advantage when there 100% is not.
Ok I feel better now
Good night 😴
I liked the chart in the article where the new 7 prc has more effective range(based on energy) than a 300 win mag
I suppose he used a 180 core lokt vs the 180 eldM

pretty rude and uncalled for imo

These wanna-be influencers are useless and self-aggrandizing. They deserve to be called out for what they are and not for what they think they are. Like actors playing a role, their intent is to be on camera even when they don't have the vaguest idea of what they're talking about.

Thank you for your opinion.

:)

"I'm not sure about that. I mean you make some interesting points, but I think we'll have to discuss that in a future video. You guys let me know what you think in the comments section ok! I really want to know... it doesn't have anything to do with youtube algorithms and how much money it will generate. I really want to know what the comments say. I especially want to hear from a guy that has been shooting a 30-06 five times a year for 60 years, because that's an important perspective."

What a joke.

Yet we must be in the minority, because the softer, squishier, and more lukewarm a youtuber is, the more popular he is. Sign of the times. If popularity is the goal, it's virtually guaranteed to be fluff videos, half naked immoral women, or explosions... with the word "bro" being used every 10 seconds. It's also important not to forget the flat brim hats.

This YouTube dude assuming we're all dumb enough to believe his "information" is rude and uncalled for. If he just got on and called it what it really is, a cool modern/updated design of a 7mm cartridge aimed at heavy for caliber bullets, and show actual comparisons, instead of trying to play us like fools, he might actually get some respect from a knowledgeable firearms community. It's actually somewhat insulting to have people like this guy try to spread their false knowledge these days. He worked the new cartridge up until he essentially blew primers, which means absolutely nothing, giggling about 3100 fps and a blown, leaking primer, saying "we finally hit pressure", and then shows known anemic factory velocities in a 7 mag. 180's at 2900-3000 or more in a 7 mag while hand loading is a known quantity, all done while not killing brass in one fireing.

It's no different than the initial 6.5 creed advertising. Twist facts and information in an attempt to spread false allegations and make it seem like something It's not. Knowledgeable people would strongly just prefer honesty, not just for themselves, but also for people new to the game that may not have the knowledge to know any better. It really is just deceit. Sad. I truly hope this isn't a sign of what is to come, because people like this will ruin the image of the cartridge. I am contemplating a rifle build for my son, and the 6.5 creed is a very good option, but simply based on principle I may go with something that does the same thing with a different name.

what's so exciting about a 195 gr 7mm bullet dragging knuckles out of the muzzle at barely 2800 fps ?

so he built a 7mm PRC with an 8 tw barrel ....... but it can't be done with a 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm STW, 7mm Wby etc ?

I like how he attributes "the high BC on this thing" to the cartridge ..... similar to how the 6.5 Creedmoor was presented, as the highest bc 6.5mm cartridge ever ... lol ! the red box hype is starting up, gonna see a lot more nonsense real soon, stay tuned
YEP!!

The only appeal and it's a niche appeal at most, it should fit in a medium action like a tikka with a coal of 3.340. A fast twist 7 saum or sherman has held the tikka crown for a while now and this is just another option for tikka fans.

Totally man
I will say though its not as nauseating as all the 6.5 prc fake news we've had to deal with over the past few years.
I actually laughed out load reading about the mighty 6.5 prc crushing the old 300 wm at LR.
And guys new to the game are spouting off about how it's a solid 1100 yard elk cartridge based on the numbers 🤣.

I've been running it's ballistic twin (6.5 saum) for years now so I know its limitations for killing big critters at distance.

You're right about the 7 prc being a potentially sweet round for a Tikka, I'm still skeptical that it'll be under 3.34" though with 180 or 195's seated correctly.

That video was hard to watch. People like this that barely should be loading let alone making content for a population that doesn't know any better is nauseating. In my opinion it's not the Hornday marketing hype, it's guys like this is why hornady cartridges get hyped up. For Pete's sake Hornady hasn't even released this thing yet. Is the 7mm prc going to be a good round? You betcha it is. But it's going going to outrun a properly built 7mm rem mag. Especially by over 100 fps.

Me as well. There's some drawings on longrangeonly with the boattail seated 50thou above the neck junction and the 175-180 were under 3.340, at 3.303.
The 195 eol was 3.441 so out of tikka contention.
The one thing I like about hornady cartridges is due to their popularity everyone makes brass for them.

The 7/6.5PRC is starting to gain traction in the Fclass community as a competitive cartridge. It's basically a 284Walker/284Shehane with better brass. I have a reamer on order with JGS.

The typical accuracy nodes have been in the 2930ish area with Berger 180gr Hybrids....there is a higher node closer to 3k that's hard on brass. And a lower one in the mid to upper 2800's. This is with powders such as H4350/RL16/Rl23/N555.
