7mm PRC is here. SAAMI specs out

The 7/6.5PRC is starting to gain traction in the Fclass community as a competitive cartridge. It's basically a 284Walker/284Shehane with better brass. I have a reamer on order with JGS.

The typical accuracy nodes have been in the 2930ish area with Berger 180gr Hybrids....there is a higher node closer to 3k that's hard on brass. And a lower one in the mid to upper 2800's. This is with powders such as H4350/RL16/Rl23/N555.
How long of a barrel? Don't most f class use about 30" barrels?

This YouTube dude assuming we're all dumb enough to believe his "information" is rude and uncalled for. If he just got on and called it what it really is, a cool modern/updated design of a 7mm cartridge aimed at heavy for caliber bullets, and show actual comparisons, instead of trying to play us like fools, he might actually get some respect from a knowledgeable firearms community. It's actually somewhat insulting to have people like this guy try to spread their false knowledge these days. He worked the new cartridge up until he essentially blew primers, which means absolutely nothing, giggling about 3100 fps and a blown, leaking primer, saying "we finally hit pressure", and then shows known anemic factory velocities in a 7 mag. 180's at 2900-3000 or more in a 7 mag while hand loading is a known quantity, all done while not killing brass in one fireing.

It's no different than the initial 6.5 creed advertising. Twist facts and information in an attempt to spread false allegations and make it seem like something It's not. Knowledgeable people would strongly just prefer honesty, not just for themselves, but also for people new to the game that may not have the knowledge to know any better. It really is just deceit. Sad. I truly hope this isn't a sign of what is to come, because people like this will ruin the image of the cartridge. I am contemplating a rifle build for my son, and the 6.5 creed is a very good option, but simply based on principle I may go with something that does the same thing with a different name.
I think it would be a shame to not consider the most popular cartridege with the most component source because of some principle that you don't like what someone that doesn't know you said about it. Or the shape of his hat or his beard length(***?) or some other nonsense that doesn't matter

I just think everyone sitting around in their private click calling someone they disagree with a half wit and making fun of him personally is something I'd be ashamed a 10 year old did much less a group of grown men.

Well, when a person is being deceitful, or at least misleading, for who knows what purpose (he is obviously sponsored) sorry, but I'm not going to praise him for his falsification.

Guess I'll stick with my beloved 7 Mashburn Super. The round was first catted about 70 years ago....:) pretty much a early day 28N

maybe if it were a short action cartridge I'd consider it for some future light weight short barrel build. As it is, I fail to see meaningful advantage over other options.

Only advantage I see is for those who purchase factory rifles chambered to SAAMI specs and are shooting mono's. 8T vs 9T, 9.25T, 9.5T, 10T. My 28 Nosler was built w/ 8T and can be loaded down to 7PRC speeds and not be considered a barrel burner. I don't really worry about efficiency on hunting rifles either, nor barrel life that much. Benchrest, probably a different story. Maybe.

I'm always glad to have more options. But the only advantage it would have is Hornady making factory ammo which you can rarely find in stock anywhere. And when you can there's a limit of just a few boxes. So what good does that do you? As a hunter who needs to shoot a lot to get ready for the season or as a match shooter who will go through thousands of rounds a season. Even if you could pick up a few thousand rounds your rifle may not like it so you would have to run a tuner or sell it to purchase a few thousands rounds of another ammo line and hope your rifle likes that. 300PRC, 6.5PRC, 6GT, 6ARC, 28Nosler, 6.5 creed, 6.5 Grendel, and others are rarely in stock anywhere for more than a few minutes at a time. It makes more sense to me to supply the demand for the current cartridges you manufacture before you create new ones.
I got a friend into long range shooting 2 years ago and he's been wanting a new 7mm. Of course he saw that YouTube video and believed every word of that guys biased and terribly compared review. I had to explain to him for 20min how things really are and give him a realistic comparison as I'm shooting a 7 Rem Mag now with a mild load of Rl26 pushing 180s at 2970 in a 26" Bbl. Hornady has done a lot of great things for the shooting community and profit is no doubt their first concern just like any other business. I just hope everything they do supports American companies, employees, and is not outsourced. Almost everything thing we buy now days comes from China or is sent to another country during part of the manufacturing process. China in my area of Texas is buying up mineral rights and land like crazy right now disguised as company's with American names. Got a little of topic at the end, just thought I would throw my opinion in the mix with everyone else's here on the 7PRC.

Then there's the fact that the 7LRM actually does eclipse the performance of a 7mm Rem Mag, and if we're in a long action anyway... I think would have been a better choice to build great brass around. Now, with the 7 PRC's arrival... will never happen. So, the 7 PRC will take over, deservingly or not.

Remains to be seen if it will be deserving. If they don't get Lapua or Alpha to make cases for it... I will likely not recommend it. A 7mm-300PRC would seem the best place to be for magnum bolt face performance, as Lapua brass seals the deal.

I bet if I build some custom bushings... I could pull off making 7LRM cases from a 300PRC.
