7mm/6.5 Weatherby RPM

What's not magnum about it? It's got a long case with a .500" base and holds almost the same amount of powder and the same speed as the .264 Win mag on a .473 case head.
Looks magnum to me. It may not be in the " ultra magnum " category with the 26 Nosler or 6.5-300 Weatherby but it's still overbore and fast like a standard magnum.

Perhaps some here have not heard of the 5mm Rem Mag or the .22 Mag from Winchester. One of my wildcats is named .224 MBOC. The case matches the capacity of a .30-06 and yet I called it .224 MAGNUM, Belted Of Course. It is a .264 Win Mag with the shoulder pushed back a long way.

The RPM case is unique and cannot be formed from a parent case. We tried. If someone has it figured out, let us know. Now that Peterson is making brass, I see no need to look into forming from anything. Neck it up or down and run with it.
You're saying Peterson is going to make RPM brass? Do you have more info? Maybe I misunderstood your post. Thanks

This post got a of traffic.
Now if Weatherby would just come out with a 7mm and a 30 RPM I would be happy, poorer but happy!
I know ,I know the 280AI is close,but!
OK just a 30RPM
4D reamers have a 7mm RPM available. You can use a 30 cal pilot to build a 30cal with it. I believe they have the 338 RPM reamer available as well.

hi guys im just new to the forum lots or great info . I just built two 7 rpm weatherby one in a 700 rem action and one on a sauer 100 action the rem 700 has a ibi carbon 1/8,5 5r twist 26 in the sauer 100 has a rock creek 27 in 5r 1/8.3 twist this barrel was a 280 ai i just had it reamed to the 7 rpm i have also fired over 700 rounds through this rifle very impresive so far happy to answer questions fire away

What bullets have you tried in them and what were the velocity #'s and overall impression of the round.

I had the guns chambered so they will take oacl of 3.600 tha reason is for shooting the 180 Hornady the 190 ATip. Seating these bullets out to 3.600 let's you use as much case as you need for velocity at the present I'm getting 3100 fps with 180/183 3060/190 ATIP still working on the right powders to get the most out of it it is truly going to be a great cartridge sum sub moa grips at 620 yds

I got a mossberg 30-06 (same thread as savage) and a mdt chassis with a 300wm box magazine so I can seat bullets long. I plan on barnes 127 gr long range and/or hornady CX 130 gr. Also got a Shaw 4R 6.5 Creedmoor varmit barrel. Got 4D reamer in 6.5 wby rpm. Barrel, reamer, gauges, and dummy rounds at smith now. 4d has 2 different listed reamers in 7 and a 30 cal for wby rpm available. Will shoot new setup some before I decide if I just get a new barrel or the components for a new gun. Tempted to just order shaw barrels in both 7 and 30 cal.
