7 SAUM w 180gr Berger Hybrids or 300 RUM w 230gr Berger Hybrids

I would take the 300RUM, mine is very accurate with the Barnes 180g TTSX.
Your choice with the 230g hybrid is a good one, I used them in my 300-416 Rigby Improved 35° with good success, not so much with the OTM.

Cheers.

As you know both will do the job. I have a saum running 180s at 2840 and had a 30 nosler running 230s at 2980.

I now have a 338 running 300s at 2820 so that should tell I'd definitely lean to the 230s.

I know both are stupid accurate so I'll ask a different question.

Is this a hunt where weight is critical and is one rifle considerably lighter than the other?
If not, shoot the one that makes your pants tight.

The 230 will have more energy further out, but the 180 will be flatter and both will do the job. 1k or less it's up to you and recoil will be a big factor between the 2.
No...the 7 SAUM with the 180 bullet, will NOT be flatter...

The 300 RUM wins both categories

Kill the animal the first shot, and recoil is irrelevant
