Hotter than a $2 pistol.
Why you pushing them so slow? You should easily be able to get another 200-250 fps out of them. Thanks for all the feedback and help. Decided to shoot the 215s (out of my 300 PRC at 2750fsp). Shot this bull at 410 yards. Entry was a bullet size hole and exit was about 3 inch hole. Quartering to me, shot right shoulder and exited left lung. He stumbled around for about 5 seconds and dropped 20 yards from where he was shot. Didn't examine the chest cavity but it was a one and done. So the 215 are a good one.
yes why so slow I get 3000 out of my 300 win with H-1000 and a proof 28 inch barrel they drop everything I have shotThanks for all the feedback and help. DEAD is DEAD..The ELK cant tell if it was killed by a 3000 fps bullet or a 2800 fps bullet...NICE ELK TOO.CONGRATS.Shooting at 330 feet elevation. My lab radar measured like 2800-2810. The 2750 is trued MV at 600 yards. 24 inch proof carbon barrel. The slightly slower MV had better grouping than the higher node for me.
Most of the mixed reviews are due to no exit wound. Bergers and other fragmenting bullets do not need an exit wound to be effective. Some have issues with obstructed tips. Some Berger bullets in different calibers have varying depth cavities. Deeper cavities help in its performance on impact.I just dint understand how some Berger's get great reviews like the 215 and others have very mixed reviews like the 250gr 338 Berger. Are they constructed that differently?
