7 SAUM load data

So I finally went out and shot the first few rounds out of mine. This is my first SAUM and just getting my feet wet.

LP Fuzion SA
26" Bartlein Light Palma
171gr Barnes Match Burners
H4831sc
COAL 2.95"

I'm starting with Barnes 171gr Match Burners to form brass and stabilize the barre. I've got 200 peices of virgin ADG brass and figured once I work through those the barrel should be settled in.

I ran a charge weight test with H4831sc from 57-59 in .5 gr increments. The 57gr loads were used to sight in.

No signs of pressure and speeds seem pretty moderate from what I'm reading. I plan to load a bunch at 59 and get let it eat for now.

My plan is to run 175 hybrids for a moose hunt this fall. I'm interested to see what I can run em safely.

Top row is first rounds through the saum.

Looks very promising for sure. I'm gonna bet it tightens up a little more within the next grain up. You should be able to get to around the 3,000' mark with the 175's out of a 26". I have a few that do that. All seem to hit a node where you stopped, one around the 2920 mark then another one around the 3000 if you get it there. With a 26" barrel should not be a problem at all. I hit your speeds with a 22". It's gonna speed up.

Yes I will eventually go up but wanted to keep it mild for forming brass as well as barrel stabilization. I've got 200 peices of brass to form figured by the time I work through them all the barrel should be settled in.

I was pleasantly surprised that on virgin brass I've only got roughly .002"-.003" of headspace. I was worried about having a lot of growth on first firing without being able to hit the lands.

With the 175s I've got .050" jump at length of 2.950"

Just putting my .02 in this load data thread in case anyone was interested in 7 SAUM with RL26 and N560 and 160 Accubonds.

I picked up some RL26 and N560 in the last couple of months and finally had time to develop loads while its hot.
I quickly landed on a couple of great accuracy loads that surprised me. I have long and short action rifles so tried to develop something that may work in both so my COAL was limited to 2.840".

7 SAUM - Bighorn Origin with 24" Proof Sendero 8.4T

RL26 @ 60.5gr w/ Fed 210 = 3020fps with .550" 3 shot group @ 100yds. No pressure signs.

N560 @ 61gr w/ Fed 210 = 2965fps with .340" 3 shot (one hole) group @ 100 yds. No pressure signs.

Super excited with this new development as I can now get more out of the cartridge without pushing pressure limits.

I'll probably use the N560 load as is and save the pixie dust for now.

I would sure hope you have no pressure at that speed !!

Spend way too much time and components testing 4 powders (h4831sc, N560, N565, H1000) and 2 primers ( fed 215-210) working up a load for the 184-f.
Thought I'd post my results.

22" proof- 1:8 - ADG- coal 2.975

Final 2 loads. Both maxed at 2,800

N565 - Fed 210 - 61.16 2724 6-shot .395 SD 2.8 ES 8. Maxed 63 2823

H1000 - Fed 215 - 59.95 2729 9- shot .23
SD 5.3 ES 13. Maxed 63 2805.

Attached pic 3, 3-shot groups H1000. (9 total)
Verified fps at 400 in 5-20 mph winds.
Vertical was great. Horizontal 2".
Need to finish load when I find time. View attachment 457885

Ah.
Sorry about that! I see it now. Fixed it.
I mis-typed that and didn't notice it.
I figured you were being sarcastic about me not trying to go faster.
My apologies for getting upset on that!

Do you happen to know what the "distance to lands" measurement is on this load?

I have not tried Accubonds in anything yet but just picked up some 160's to try in the 7 saum.

I have not measured the Accubond 160's precisely due to mag length limit since my other bullet measurements are all safe lengths.
My thought would be at least .040 away but likely more.
I can measure later today if you need.

With my experience loading Ballistic Tip and Accubond in several calibers, they don't mind a long jump.
I also have 6.5-284 Norma, 284 Winchester with long throat that jump .100 or more and shoot very well.

I tighten neck tension when jumping really far to delay bullet release. That nano-second delay seems to work well to seal the neck area and quicken the long journey to the lands thereby keeping velocity and accuracy up.
I don't crimp but basically the same idea.
