7 SAUM load data

160 AB Load Development done

In my 22" barrel rifle:
61.5 gr N560 @ 2920 fps
160 AB @ .030" off (2.975" COAL)

One of the easier load workups i've done. Ran a charge weight ladder in .5 gr inc from 59 gr up to pressure. Had slightly heavier bolt lift at 63 gr and discontinued there. Charge weights 61 & 61.5 were touching and well under pressure. Shot two 3 Shot groups of each and the 61.5 stacked & repeated. Now to just find some more... 🤔
Which primers did you seat with this load? Thanks

One more question please. Sorry for bother but curious. Did your load get better as your brass had more firings? Thanks for your input.

Ask away! Hard saying for sure because I did most of my break in and initial basic testing on the first 100 pieces that I'm still using now. That's one of those things where it "should" improve consistency, but sometimes it can change your load where you might need to tweak your powder charge. I personally wouldn't hesitate to take any of my current loads and put them in virgin brass then run with it.

It will be a few weeks before I can shoot these, but finally got my reloading bench set up and loaded up some 150 ABLR and 175 EH. My prior load was 58.5 R23 with 175 EH, F215M, ADG brass at 2.99" COAL. got me 2,780 out of a 22" 8.5 twist barrel. It probably has settled in now, has almost 200 rounds down the pipe.
New test loads:
175 EH
59.0, 59.5, 60.0 R23
150 ABLR
59.0, 59.5, 60.0, 60.5 R23

Will report velocities back in about 3 weeks.... It shoots really well so if any of these loads get me better velocity without leaning super hard on it, it will be in the running for my Wyoming antelope and mule deer tags.

With RL23 and 175's, 59.0 is we're my node was at 2,870. 60.0 was pressure but same hole. Shot well just hot. So get ready to back down. Try N565 at around 65.0 and you will be around 2,940 and same poi. Done this with two 22" barrels lately.

Hey longtine, at what outside temps does N565 start to mess with accuracy/pressure? Or is it temp insensitive?

I don't have much issue with the N565. It acts a lot like H1000. Not quite as good with temps but close. N560 imulates RL26 though. Be careful with it.

It's suppose to be 108 tomorrow so I'll go out and try the N565 with it like that. My saum load I'll test is 65.0 grains. It's on the high end at 2,936 avg fps. That was shot in the 50's back in January. Real life result coming.

Thank you, sir. Real life data is invaluable in these cases. Our temps are similar and you seem to be quite the saum guru. I really do appreciate the info you give out. It was 112 here last weekend and is usually pretty hot. I have a load dialed with 60.0 grains of RL26 shooting 180 hybrids at avg 2920 out of a 24" proof, but with it being so temp insensitive I don't shoot during summer or early rifle season due to the heat. I'll usually take another rifle out and it's rare I have to shoot further than 200-300 yards for deer. So my saum gets saved for out of state hunts when it's cooler during the hunting season. I have H1000 and H4831SC I can try, but was curious how N565 stacks up to them before I go buy some.

I tried the Hornady 166 A-TIP a few days ago in my 7 RSAUM. My barrel is 17.5" long (XP-100) and has 0.140" freebore. Bartlein 5R bbl, 1:9" twist.

65.0 gr H1000, F210GMM primer, R-P brass, 3.024" OAL (2.331" CBTO). 2832 fps average. Shot 3/4" 3 shot group. Pretty sure I can tighten that up a bit, and plan to try with some more load work. For this load I simply switched bullets from a 166 ELDX that shoots 1/2 MOA, hoping it would be a plug and play.

In my 7 RSAUM, I've only tried three powders. IMR4451, H4831sc, and H1000. H1000 gives me the best velocity of those three and H4831sc has given me best accuracy, with H1000 hot on its heels.

I've only used two primers for all my load workup. WLR & F210gmm. Both have worked well.

I might try those with Fed 210M primers instead of 215M's also. Will see what happens.
