7-300prc brass prep. experience

I knew about the Sherman and considered it. I think it is a great cartridge, it is just proprietary. If I didn't already have a 300prc being built, where I can use the same dies, I doubt if I would be doing it. It just seemed like a natural extension and fun to figure things out myself. In my research into this cartridge, it seemed like there was quite a bit of interest but little information. Now I have something to keep me interested through the long, cold winter months ahead. Thanks for all input.

I have a 7mm expander coming. I'll order a .312 and .313. Thanks for your input. Why is Hornady brass so disliked. What are the characteristics that are good and/or bad. Love to hear a knowledgeable voice, thanks
If its all you have then run with it.

Hornady brass to me has been some of the worst I've seen.. flash holes not cut, inconsistent neck thickness, shoulders caved in, necks crushed, weights all over the place, cant handle top end loads without pocket failure and the list goes on.. I'm not alone on this.

Get the best and never worry about it

Glad I asked. We have Lapua and ADG available. I'll get the Lapua. I learned in my life's work that good tools pay for themselves many times over. By good quality and never look back. Thanks. I visited with my gunsmith today and got more very good information.

300 PRC brass is so abundant right now, between both ADG & Lapua there's really no reason not to use premium options.

Btw, the other day at my local Scheels...

In a word, inconsistency. More differences between cases in the same lot, more thickness variations, etc. It can be made to work, but as you've already done why not start with a better blank canvas?

I shoot a good bit of Hornady brass, but not in cases where the brass would be something that limits the precision I need from a rifle. Lots of 300 Blackout, lots of AR-15/AR-10 stuff. It's actually my go-to for 30-06. Most of my rifles in that chambering are factory, I can live with minute-of-deer precision from them, and I don't shoot them all a ton. Cheaper brass is fine, I can get a box of 100 and feed 5 rifles for years with it. It took me long enough to shoot up once-fired factory ammo brass, not much new production brass is worse than mixed lots 🤣

@bitbythebug have you found any starting loads for the 7-300 PRC? Curious on which projectiles & powders you're starting with too.
I haven't got my gun built yet. I got everything i needed to prep the brass for Manson reamers to build a reamer. I will let everyone know about load development as soon as I get the gun. Probably won't be till next spring, at best.
