6.5 SHERMAN MAX

Nice! I would caution not to run top pressure while forming though. Much better on the future of primer pockets.
Thanks Rich. Barely started to see a faint ejector mark with RL 23 on the last round i fired.

I took the fireformed brass home and full length resized it, and loaded up 3 - 3 shot strings (.2 gr charge variance per group)where i thought i saw a flat spot in velocity. Unfortunately that didnt pan out for me as now that i have fireformed brass i pulled the bullet back .024 off the lands and the pressure changed slightly. Couldnt get a good ES. Results attached

look for a hairline crack in the middle of that case. that happened to me fireforming a 280 AI, and accually had one spit in half.

I went to the range today shot 20 rounds half of them looked like that the other half were clean brass

So Rich, can you do the work on a 700 LA magnum bolt?

You are from SoTex, try Pete Pieper at Hempstead.

Precision Barrel Work - Custom Gunsmithing for Benchrest, Hunting and Varmint Rifles of Highest Quality

He did this bolt for the 30 Nosler. It was a 473 type bolt. Not only he opened the face, he installed the Sako extractor, bushed the firing hole , and turned down the firing pin tip to 0.062 to complement the new firing pin hole.

I did the rest of the action work.

I don't know what I did wrong with mine, maybe a head space issue, or my die was very tight and I created a fault in the case.
I shot 2 that looked like that, and the third came out in two pieces. the first two had hairline cracks. switched dies, never had that problem again

What dies were you using what did you switch too
They were Redding dies, and when I sent the back, they verified they were too tight. I went with hornady's. But this was for a 280 AI.

I shoot three different Shermans, and they use whidden and Forester dies. Never had a problem.
Might be sizing too far. ( bumping the shoulder too far back)

If it is indeed cracked. But I'm no expert, I've been doing wildcats for only 2 to 3 yrs now
