6.5 PRC Retumbo

What is everyone experience with loading 6.5 PRC with Retumbo. Is their a common sweet spot with grains of powder.

I would think retumbo would be on slow side for 6.5 I'd try 4831 or 4831sc

Depends on the Bullet. Barnes shows Retumbo the fastest velocity with 140gr.

Ya I see that but it's also using more powder to get there then h4831. 4831sc was great powder in 270wsm with a 140 as well

Retumbo does fairly better with the heavier 140+ bullets. RL26 will be the do it all powder for all weight ranges. I've tried h1000, Rl23, RL26, h4831sc and they all have shot good. RL26 being the fastest by at least 100-200 fps with them all loaded to max.

H4831 with medium weight bullets.
Also depends on your rifle/barrel.

Retumbo will work if that's what you have. 147 grainer I'd start at 57.5 and go up.

H1000 or r26 works best after 2 6.5 prcs and most of what people recommend

57.0gr of Retumbo and a Berger 156 EOL shot under 1/2 moa at 400 yards in my 23.5" Proof barreled rifle.

FWIW, I was using Hornady cases and Fed 210M primers. Bullets were loaded .056" off the rifling.
