6.5 prc enough gun for elk

A fool would say! I suspect that you will live a long life, as it is said that God takes care of drunks and fools…..I suspect that you've got both covered quite well! memtb
No reason to get huffy, it was a joke.

I mean I should've said "elk are bulletproof, unless you shoot a MAGNUM, then you've got margin for error." That and LB FT OF ENERGY seem to be the fudd battle cry when it comes to anyone even suggesting elk can be killed with short action cartridges.

But go back to name calling, its what you do best.

I don't recall starting with the insults…..merely joined in the continuance of the CM trashing. Not sure how the PRC folks got offended! I think that most everyone said it was adequate…..including me in my initial post! The OP inquired/suggested that he may consider a larger caliber cartridge. This is where many of us agreed that while not "needed" a larger, more powerful cartridge could be desirable and is certainly "not" less effective at killing game! memtb

The PRC is being "labeled" as a magnum though I wouldn't put it into that category. That's just me. I selected mine for local long range shots on small deer and feral hogs.

A whole decade! No wonder you so insolent…..you're still having adolescent hot flashes as your Prefrontal Cortex hasn't developed yet! memtb
That's just when I figured out that the magnums didn't make them more dead

Drunk or fool huh? I'm neither but thanks for your concern.

I'd say the fool is the one that believes you need a 338 kill an elk....margin for error and all lol.

Magnum….is just a name/term. You are correct…..Magnum doesn't kill any better than "whatever" term you want to use.

In fact "magnum" is a very misleading term! There are several cartridges that carry the magnum nomenclature that are pushing bullets no faster than a factory load 30-06……a 30-06 is rarely, if ever, listed in the "magnum" category!

So, what constitutes a magnum? Is it bullet diameter…..so the 22 Magnum is a "magnum"…..yet a 45-70 is hardly considered a magnum! 🙀

The .375 H&H carries the "magnum" moniker…..yet factory loads in 270 grains or 300 grains are pretty tame in the world of hunting cartridge. The .375 CheyTac, certainly has "magnum" velocities …..yet is not called a magnum!

You really should seek professional counseling in regards to your irrational phobia pertaining to the use of "magnum" in firearm cartridge nomenclature! I truly hope that you can receive the much needed help you need! 😉 memtb

Reading comprehension is "certainly not" your strong suite. It appears that you are a fairly recent product of the public school system…..if my previous comment doesn't fit you!

I do not think that anyone stated or even suggested that a .338 is needed/necessary to kill an elk…..or anything else walking our planet! memtb
