My 5R .308 is the most accurate rifle in my safe, averaging 1/4 to 1/3 MOA on average...Which also includes comparing it to my 6 customs, which average in the 1/3 to 1/2 MOA range.
In 2006 I bought my first 700 5R Mil-Spec 308. It shot Black Hills, Federal Gold Medal Match and my handloads in both 175gr and 168gr SMK bullets so well that I made it into my 1000 yard rifle. Sub-1/2 MOA groups were the norm. I saw seveal other 700 Mil-Spec rifles at the range and all shot impressive groups, so much so that I bought two more 700 Mil-Spec 5R rifles, also in 308! They are all serious shooters.
I recently got a RPR Gen-2 in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is also a sub-1/2 MOA shooter.
If you plan on hunting with your choice of these two, pick the Remington. The RPR is much too heavy for most people to carry at the ready, in the field all day! The Remington is only a little heavier than most common sporter weight rifles.
