6.5-300 WBY 156 Berger

I'm using a 140 grain Accubond and N570 in my 6.5-300. I am getting great accuracy with .5 to .75 inch groups consistently and a velocity of 3490 FPS. It took me about 50 rounds to arrive at the load and for final sight in, so now I am saving the barrel for actual hunting. 30 years ago my .264 Win Mag was toast after only about 400 rounds so I handling this barrel with kit gloves

I agree. The if it ain't broke don't fix rule applies to my barrel burners as well.

This begs to ask the question. The 6.5-300 is famouslly know for burning up barrels, @ their extreme velocities.

Why did you buy the gun if you are now just going to slow it down? Enjoy the velocity and buy a new barrel.

I've set mine back in the safe and walked away for a few months due to frustration several times while trying to get the 156 Berger to shoot. RL33, H1000, Retumbo, and US869 are the powders I've tried without the results I'd like to see. RL33 showed best accuracy but it was still not sub MOA. I've heard some have good results with RL50 so that will be my last attempt before giving up on that bullet. Custom build on Mark V with 26" Proof carbon barrel.

Run this combo currently. Seems they really like around 3150 no matter what powder I run but I have settled on N570.

Hello all. I currently use a 127 LRX for my 6.5- 300 Weatherby. I'm looking to slow down the bullet a little and perhaps save my barrel from further abuse. I'm thinking of try 156 Berger. I hear good things. anybody out there have any reloading information for that cartridge?

It might work/help if you don't blow them up first.
Not to be a jerk but a lesser of an overbore cartridge would really help lol.

You can call berger and they will give you load data for it.

127LRX I got 3538 foot per second A great round. I took an elk with it two years ago I also have a load with the 143ELDX A higher bc bullet 3140 FPS. I'd like to slow her down a little and why not get a heavier hire Buse bullet at the same time

I'm sure they aren't blowing up. My question wasn't about Berger's since they arent monos. My question was for the guy who thinks LRX's are blowing up from a over bore round.

26 nosler. Ramshot LRT at about 82 grains. I can look at my book later if you want. Lrt is very good in my opinion for this bigger 6.5s. ball powder should be better on the barrel. Es is low. It's not heating up to fast either.

My 6.5 PRC 31" is running 156's @ 3311 fps average with 64 grains of N570, .3 moa groups, long barrel and slow powder.
