6.5-284 reloading

H1000(it is the coolest burning of the magnum powders) will give you the best barrel life of the powders you listed followed by Retumbo.
With a Berger 140 I'm just over 3,000fps with 59.9 grains of H1000 , 210M, and Lapua brass 26" barrel.

What your load with the h4831
53.1 with H4831

I've found the Berger HVLD bullet to be more difficult to get an accurate load with but if you do find the right load they are more accurate than other hunting bullets. The 140 Bergers out of a 6.5-284 kill deer with authority.

I also shoot a lot of Sierra match king seconds in a couple different calibers and find them to be easy to find an accurate load. They are cheaper to shoot for practice also.

I used to shoot at Williamsport with a 6.5-284 and used h4831. Most guys that I'm aware of shooting it up were using that powder. If I'm not mistaken that is what the late Sid Goodling told my cousin and I to use. He was a well know and respected smith up there.

I have a 6.5-284 being built.
Rt now I have 142 nosler ab lr
Serria 130 thk

The powder I have
H4350 h4831sc h1000 n560

It's mainly going to be a hunting rifle

I've look at some recent data on the forum
Really nothing recent!

I'm not set on any bullets or powder that's just what I have
I had good results with 4831, h1000, and retumbo. Of those retumbo was the best. All good tho. RL26 in the end wound up being my go to but it's hard to find. I'd definitetly try the 560. 560 works well in my PRC's.

I have used the 140 Berger's for ever but felt the need for more weight. 156 elite hunters are now my go to bullets. H 1000 , Retumbo both work. Due to availability I ventured off into the Vittavori land with N-570 . Velocity is there but not the accuracy of Retumbo or H-1000 in my gun 24" barrel. I am going to try N-560 next. I do love these Vittavori powders in many other flavours.

What velocity are you getting with the 156? What critters are you shooting with the 156 and what is your experience? I've thought about trying them out but I've not felt the need for deer.

I'm at 2930 is my accuracy load , 3 shots usually.500 moa sometimes more or a little less . I can't carry my custom.30 -.338 much because it's heavy for this old guy lol . The 6.5 x.284 is a much lighter gun . I have used it on moose and Rosevelt elk 380 yards was my longest kill with it.
I also have a great load with Reloader #17 in my benchrest rifle 30" barrel great accuracy.

What's your N570 load with the Berger 156's?

What's your N570 load with the Berger 156's?
My accuracy load is with 57.3 of Retumbo 156 Berger's. Best group.275 for 3 shots at 100 yards
I have tested up to 58.5 grains of N-570 for 2970 fps . 58 grains accuracy.400 " 3 shots at 100 yards 2949 FPS This is tested in my gun and just under pressure. Your gun may be different approach with caution .
