338-300 PRC... Sherman Improved!

Most destructive bullet my guide saw on 85 grizz/ brownie kills. That is a good test. 😉

Especially torching out of that 338 RUM! I look forward to hearing more about that one.

I got to thinking too, and it is worth mentioning. The 210 HHT at 3050-3080 fps with H4350 is actually a "softer" and slightly lower recoiling combo compared to my 225 AB/H4350 load. It's a small difference, but notable.

That could be "the" combination when I get my suppressor too.
 
Quick range trip this AM, I think we'll call this one good for now! Typical Hammers, they shoot easy. Both Charge weights 80/81 produced great accuracy. 81 gr seemed a little more consistent Point Of Impact and smaller group. Both had really low ES/SD, so it's a toss up between the two. Both are far under pressure so no reason not to grab the extra speed.

I'm going to order more to have on hand for when my suppressor comes in and revisit this combo.

210 gr HHT @ .030" off
81 gr H4350 (3080 fps)
Lapua 4x fired now
CCI250 primer

Very interesting, you've got me looking forward to working up a load for my 33 Nosler.
I bought a 100 rounds of the Nosler etip's back when brass was non-existant and I'm getting real close to needing to work up a load.
The 230eldx or the 225 accubond may even try the 225 ttsx

Hmmm, I probably would have never thought to use H4350 but I will now. I usually go for the 4831, h1000 or retumbo.

Same here. I was pretty reluctant too... started at H1000, then H4831sc, and even tried N555 before moving to H4350. Makes sense though when you start looking at some factory load data for comparison on say the 33 Nosler. It seems like this case wants powders in that H4350-H4831sc burn range. Some bullets may even do better with one step faster burning powders yet.

My next test is going to be with N550 & those McGuire Ballistics 225 CR's. I "think" that will work well. The 225's take up a bit more internal case volume than any other bullet I've tested. So I never really hit real pressure with H4350 there, and could only get like 77/78 gr in before it was getting compressed.

You might want to look at AA2700. This is better then RL-17 and H4350. It gives better barrel life!! Haven't tried mine yet!!
 
What velocity's are you getting out of your 338wsm??

I used to have a 338Jamison, that I was only getting 338-06 velocity's out of, 2600-2700fps
 
Next up, circling back around to the McGuire Ballistics 225 Copper Rose mono's. I have a load with these using 77 gr of H4350 at 2900 fps already, but I feel that they'll do a bit better with something faster burning. I can only get 77/78 gr of H4350 in the case with these. They take up a bit of case capacity. So never did pressure out. From my past experience with the McGuires they've always shot to their full potential 1-2 gr under first pressure signs.

Going with N550 on this one, starting extra low just incase! With the hammers, N550 produced the same speed as H4350 with 5 gr less powder. The N550 kernel size is also smaller than H4350 kernels. So this combo could be just about right.

This is the last combination that I'll be tinkering with for a while. If these pan out, they'll likely be going to Alaska for some real testing 😎
