Have enough once fired brass to start reloading 300 PRC. Have shot 212gr ELD-X & 225gr ELD-M factory loads and they grouped well, 1/2"-1" pending the shooter (ME). Rifle is a Fierce CT Edge, 1:8 twist, 24" barrel.

Going to use 212gr ELD-X, 200gr ELD-X & 200gr Barnes LRX with Federal 215 Magnum Primers. Powder & dies are the missing links to my creation. My goal is to get 3000fps without maxing out powder charge. RL-26, H-1000, Retumbo, H4381...Suggestions PLEASE!?!?

Thanks,

RR208

Powder availability may be the determining factor. I found Retumbo was the ticket under a 225gr ELDM... that said I can't get my hands on the stuff. I may need to work up another load with mag pro or Ramshot Magnum; H1000 is unavailable as well in my area and online from what I've seen. I have been very happy with RCBS match master dies and a Sinclair expander mandrel (case mouths are getting dented during extraction). I posted a while back with my load development experience, may be something of use in there 🤷🏼‍♂️ Like you no one ever responded to my post.

If you are going for 3000 with those bullets Reloder 25 or Reloder 26 will be your best ones to start with. Mine has a 27 inch barrel and I was able to get to 3000 with 208's and Retumbo as well as the two above powders but H1000 2900 range is more realistic.
How fast were the factory loads that shot well going?... you won't be able to increase those speeds without running Max loads

Was shooting factory Hornady Precision Hunter loads....225 ELDM = 2810....212 ELDX = 2860

I have enough Retumbo to load 20 rounds at 77-78gr and I found a pound of H-1000 in my stash of powders but the load data says to not go above 77-78gr and that will achieve 2900.

Still working on this, searching high and low for RL25 or 26 powder....tough to beat what my groups were yesterday with Factory ammo...sub half inch at 100 and dead on at targets out past 500 yards. I recognize those ranges are close when discussing long range hunting but I'm shooting a "hunting rifle!"

The gun is capable of being accurate at longer ranges, personally I'd like to get as close as possible to my prey to reduce any chance of making a marginal shot as well as being able to get a solid second shot on target.

I have LRT and 225 ELD-M on hand.

26" and 1 in 9 twist barrel 300 PRC

Anyone have any experience with this combination??

Don't forget N565 if you can find it. I'm running it with 245's and it's fantastic. It'll certainly run the lighter bullets, too.

I started my 300 PRC off with H1000 and the 215 Berger Hybrid, accuracy was one hole at the lowest powder charge and opened up slightly as I went up in powder, still 1/2 minute load but velocity was maxed out about 2800. I switched over to the 230's with Retumbo and still 1/2 minute at just a tad over 2900 for my 26 inch barrel. 3000 fps may be pushing your brass way to hard in a 24 inch barrel. I have shot some solid groups at 1505 yards with the Retumbo and 230's. Have fun with your project and cheers, Jason
