what makes powders this way and why don't they make all of them like this? is it an additive that makes them less sensitive to non or is it just.....................?

less sensitive
Single base powder, for the most part, do not contain nitroglycerin, like many double based powders.

The higher percent of nitro in the powder, the faster the burn rate & more sensitive.

A double based powder may be the exact same composition, but different burn rates. The coating applied to the same powder, changes burn rate.

see post 13 here OR Here

Coated ball powders need a Magnum Primer.

Hope this helps. No sure of what your asking.

Another example.

From Website-
Interesting fact: N135, N133 and N130 all have exactly the same grain dimensions, but due to the different surface coating the burning behavior of the powders varies.

A Safety Data Sheet can be Googled for each powder. (SDS)

In regard to the Extreme powder line, it is a chemical additive in the 'recipe' when the batch is made. It is not a coating, or an additive after the batch is made.
It is the make-up of the added ingredients.

Cheers.

Hodgdon re-labels Australian made powders called the "Extreme" range.
The label even says "Made in Australia" on the bottom strip of the label
By now, i thought every one knows Hodgdon does NOT make powder.

Googles AI does not know. :D
