30 nosler load data

I'm hoping someone can clarify a freebore question for me. I'm having SPR spin up a 30 nosler for me, and the freebore for their reamer is .162. They said I could could send a dummy round to them if I wanted more freebore.

Everything I've read, a .225 or so freebore is optimal for the 215-230 grain projectiles. Attached photo is a 215 berger hybrid. Am I on the right track here? I want the bullet far enough up in the neck to avoid donuts as well.

My 30 Nosler JGS reamer is setup for the Berger 210 VLDH bullet seated with bearing surface/boattail junction at the shoulder/neck junction of the case. My freebore is 0.170"

The Berger 215 has a slightly shorter bearing surface and would also work great in my chamber/reamer design. I personally think 0.225" freebore is too long (at least for my preferences it is). I also don't allow for formation of donuts (never have worried about them).

Plus, my two 30 Nosler XP-100's shoot lights out.

I went with a .200 freebore for .205/.215 Berger. Mine is a 10 twist barrel. If you're going to hunt south at sea level you might consider a 9 twist for the 215/217/230. I also have had great accuracy with a Bartlein.26 inch.

You should be replying to AverageJoe90...

My two 30 Noslers are 9" twist. Both Bartlein barrels, and they have both shot some one-hole groups at 100 yards.
