28 nosler, 300rum or 300prc ?

How can the exact same case lose 100fps with a 20gr lighter bullet?
I realize there are bearing surface and bore size differences, but that math does not add up.
Exactly! I don't see that test being very fair. However, different barrels are different in speed and different chamber reamed to different specs can cause some velocity differences, but I wouldn't think 100 FPS for a bullet weighing 20gr less for the same capacity case.

Could you.give me an advice about brass and barrel life of:

300 Wby
300 RUM
300 PRC

Thanks

Barrel life is largely determined by heat, pressure, and friction. So given they all shoot the same bullets and have the same bore diameter, the one that shoots the fastest almost always has the shortest barrel life.
Brass life is usually determined by brass quality and pressure of loads. Primer pockets usually go first.

Any of the big 30's without a belt.
No need to handcuff yourself with old technology.
People seem to get ruffled up about the advantages of modern non belted cases over their beloved belted mags.
I'll never understand it..
What exactly are the advantages of NOT having a belt? Also, metallic cases were originally designed WITHOUT a belt, but they were rimmed, so which technology is older?

They make a die so you can completely size right above that belt I don't understand why people get hung up so much on it. I mean we're talking basically 1960 and no one can really beat them little bigger little faster little more efficient but are they really just hands down crushing them nope
He'll even before 1960 we start out with the old h&h

It does require but you neck turn them to get rid of the donut that forms when you neck up.
How is it, that you get a "doughnut" necking up 26 Nosler (.264"/6.5mm) to 28 Nosler (.284"/7mm)? I don't and haven't and I have to use 26 Nosler to make 28 Nosler, because it's available.

Going to have a new build done shortly. So out of the 3, (don't think I can go wrong with any of them) what caliber would you go with and why ? I have a 300wsm that shoots lights out with the 175 vld now at 2880. Rifle will be used for Elk/Deer out to 1000 if needed

Out to 1,000. The 28 Nosler would be a good choice, but personally, I am a 300RUM fan for several reasons. I like bigger bullets for elk and other large game, especially when the range may exceed 1,000. Not that the 7's aren't very capable, but just my extra margin if a heavy bone is struck at an off angle.

And since I currently have 2 in 300RUM, I am a bit biased.

That is a amazing 300 win mag.
Maybe a longer barrel I know BROZ has a longer barrel and a stout load of h1000 gives him a touch over 3000
Broz has built a bunch of those 300 WM's and they all shoot almost the identical load/velocity, very similar to Ryan and his 28's.

300PRC, two reasons. Number one, it isn't a barrel burner like the 300 RUM andand 28 Nosler. Number two, I had the chance to shoot one that was a Hornady demo rifle at work and we pushed it out past 2000yds. It is phenomenal, we we're using hornady's new 4DOF program and getting first round hits out to 1600yds.
I work at an explosive and ballistic R&D facility in New Mexico and the bosses we're nice enough to let us play with it for a couple of days. By the end of day 2 we were hitting out at 2k consistently.

I've only shot out 2 barrels out in my life I mean truly shot out like a 140 grain bullet sideways in the target. grandpa's 264 win mag and a 22-250, I used both of them like they were a freaking 22 cuz I was young, I think it was the greatest thing that ever happened cuz I put 8 twist bartline on the 264wm nowna Lazer of death and a 8 twist on the 22-250 and Ackley improved it.
Barrels are cheap in the scheme of things I mean look how much you could waste on components with a crap barrel. Image is everything you want to look good doing it and it's only money you can't take it to the grave says the beer budget with champagne taste
