28 nosler 195 berger RE33 testing

Just as an fyi my reamer even though it is set up with a very long freebore for the 195s still works great with the 180 eld line of bullets. Ive had many sub 1/4 moa groups from customers with them as well. Theres not really any reason to not use a extended magazine for this cartridge. Let it be throated where it needs to be to optimize powder capacity.

Ryan, I've got a 300RUM I'm considering re barreling. Would your 28 Nosler with 195s set where the need to be fit into a Remington Sendero box without modification? Seems to me like it would since the 300 RUM is so much longer.

Ive used Bartlein, Brux, Muller with great results in the 28 nosler. Last year I got some proofs in and they were sent back. However Ive been assured by Proof that the ones I got in last week are way better than the ones they were making a year ago. I will find out in a couple months when the guns they are for get started on.

My name is Ryan but not sure if you asking for me or not.... I load N570 in the 28.

27" Barrel
N570
Fed 215
195 Berger seated .020 off.
3.006 with Hornday tool.
78.5 grains=3015
79=3040
79.5=3050
80= 3075
3050 FPS shoots best in my rifle.
79.3 grains is what i settled on.

I was asking Ryan Pierce originally, but that is the information I was looking for. My CBTO (with the Hornady tool) is 3.004" so that is perfect. Did you try any of your loads with Reloader 33 before N570?

I did. But this is a hunting rifle and N570 is a lot more temp stable. I didn't matter on the powder type but velocity. The 195s in my rifle shot great at 3040-3050. There is a higher node about 3100-3150. Mine shot very well at 3040-3050 with each powder.

How did you determine N570 is more temp stable? A personal comparison between both?

I have tested N570 from 85 to 39 degrees and had no velocity change. I didn't test RL33 personally, but friends did and ended up around 1 fps per degree. Ryan Pierce mentioned to me that RL33 is really dirty and needs to be cleaned every 30 rounds. He would get false pressure signs from a overly dirty barrel. RL33 is about half the cost of N70 and easier to find.
