28 nosler 195 berger RE33 testing

If I ever drew a sheep tag you had better believe I would be out the chronographing every cartridge I had with Reloder 33 at different temperatures :)

**** right... I know what you mean. Plus, these new-age magnum rounds NEED that barrel length to get anything worthwhile out of them.. 26 is minimum.
The problem is after 26/28 inches, your ability to make it a hunting rifle is compromised. Ever try to swing a rifle with a 28+pipe on it at running game? It's not happening.

You don't swing a long range rig at running game. Its a long range rig. For hunting moving animals at short distances, do not build a long range rig.

Your rum action will work fine. Grab a Wyatt's 3.850" box and have your action opened up. Or just buy a stiller predator. I am building quite a few in the next few weeks and will have a couple left over to have instock. I have some predators for 900 if I chamber a barrel on it. I have some fluted and non fluted Rem varm contour Brux barrels instock that I will be using.

I know this is an older post, but I'm just curious if this option is still available?

I am starting another batch here next week and should have them done in 4-6weeks or so. If you want one call me at the shop. I have manners eh1's, stillers, jewells & timneys, and 6.5, 7mm and 30 cal brux instock.

I see your rifles posted on your website. Do you chamber those specifically for the 195s? This thread has me intrigued and would love to get one set up for the 195s.

I am getting ready to "Remage" my 338 RUM to 28 Nosler. I plan on installing a Wyatt's MBE-3 magazine box for the 195 Bergers.

What would be the optimum COAL for the 28 Nosler with the 195 EOL? I would like to have the barrel throated to optimize this bullet, but it would also be nice to have the option of shooting the 180 Bergers just in case things don't work out with the 195's.
Thanks

If you have it throated specifically for the 195 so that the boat tail junction is ahead of the neck shoulder junction then a 180 will be half way up the neck. It's pretty much dedicated for the 195s. However there's no reason to use anything else. My customers are sending me groups under an inch at 400 yards with their sub 10 lb with optics 28 noslers I've built them. That accuracy isn't the exception but the norm. 100 yard accuracy has been in .0s, .1s and low .2s. I've yet to have built one that won't shoot in the .2s or better. And I've built around sixty 28 noslers this year so far. That doesn't include all the other calibers I built rifles in. Once I get my new shop up lead times on full builds will be under 2 months due to the new machinery I'm getting. I will also be able to build more rifles for the other ffls that have me do their work for them.

I've really been looking at the 28 Nosler! I don't have a big LR rig and I've got an LA in the safe that needs some attention :) I'm guessing from reading that I'd be pretty well covered if I go with a 8T barrel? this would be a when I get funds get goodies kind of thing but the round really has me interested! the brass cost not so much!

If you'd not mind I may pick your brain on reamers down the road if your cool with that? Later,

Kirk

I appreciate the offer! I have a few things I need to look into before I drive that final nail in the 28 Nosler build though I'll admit don't think it would take much more of an impact lol just having a hard time getting over the cost of brass! Later,

Kirk

Hi Mr. Pierce,

I am very much a newby to this forum, but have been reading quite a bit and thinking of having a 28 Nosler built on my Weatherby Mark V action. The specs say that the box is 3.8, so will I need to have the action opened up and the box chamnged to the Wyatt?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

How temperature sensitive are you finding the RE33 in those 28 Noslers? RE25 seems quite stable in my 300 Ultra. RE22 is all over the map in the 300 Win Mag.

I just got my new 28 nosler back yesterday and it looks great cannot wait to get it out. Im from canada and we have a lot of snow so not sure when that will be... I got this 28 throated for the 195's and got 8lbs of rl33.
