264wm and 156 berger

Loaded out at 3.477 OAL on mine. 68.2G of N570 producing 3096 average w/ the 156. Grouping under a dime at 200. ES is under 5 with 8 twist Bartlien at 26". No brake. 0.165 throat. Maybe I got lucky but love that load.
you have a lot more freebore than me. im touching lands at 2.700. not sure what my smith used but I'd wished it had a little more.

I know this thread is over a month old, but wanted to update it with my results.

I have a custom chamber that allows for a COAL of 3.480" with the 156gr bullets. I did a pressure test (never hit pressure signs, stopped at 71.0gr), found flat spots in velocity at 3,065fps and 3,137 fps and settled on the following load:

New Nosler brass
Federal 215m primer
70.3 gr VV N570
156gr berger elite
20 thousands off the lands or 3.460" COAL / 2.765" to ogive
3,137 fps avg

*pictured is my 3 shot group at 100 yards with this load - front bipod, rear bag, includes cold bore shot

Can't wait to stretch it out to confirm drops and try out the terminal performance on some animals in the coming weeks.

My 264WM is a 29" 1-8" twist with .220" freebore, with a mag box length of 3.710" I have ample room to seat any of the Berger/ABLR bullets with the heal just below the neck.
RETUMBO has been my go-to powder, but RE25 & H1000 also get it done.

Cheers.
