25-06 Ackley Improved velocities

Honestly, if you're rebarreling I can't think of any reason to NOT go AI. You can fire form while you break in your barrel & get a rough zero on your optic... easy peasy. More velocity, less trimming & a case design that I personally think is superior to the original.

As others have already said, roll with a lighter mono & high velocity or the heavy cup/core bullets like the Black Jack or 135? Berger.

You'll get 50-100 fps gain over the regular 25-06.

It's not a 257 bee, but I really liked the round
This doesnt seem like much velocity improvement to bother with...
Curious what length barrel this was from.
Mine is currently 24in but thinking of going with 26in barrel.

Make sure you get the twist right a 26in 2506 ai 1-7 , 1-7,5 or 1-8 min and your good , don't think twice it's worth it.
Im looking at a 1:7 twist and leaning towards 26in barrel (old bbl is 24in)

Im new to reloading so approaching the idea of AI cautiously since i cant find any load data on it. Id like to get about 200fps over the factory ammo velocities with 125g hammers my estimations see a nice improvement in range... If I could safely get at least 3200fps with some of the heavier hammer projectiles that would be awesome.

I'm currently running the 131 BJ at 3160 FPS out of my 25-284. From what I've seen a 26" barrel 25-06 AI will out run it by a little bit. My barrel is 25". I haven't shot any hammers out of this rifle. But you should get a 125 HH to your 3200 FPS goal I'd think. I've only tried R26 so far.

I had a .25-06AI for years. Built it specifically for AZ pronghorn hunting probably 17 years ago now. (still haven't drawn that elusive tag). Back before any of the current heavies were even a dream.

27.5" 1:10" Lilja
100 TTSX @ 3600fps
115 HVLD @ 3450fps

Rem R-P brass FFed
CCI200 primers
RL22

Shot a bunch of deer with it, from 80-488. Tons of coyotes. Barrel lasted about 800 rounds.

100 TTSX @ 3600fps
Ive been slowly acquiring components to reload for this rifle (been very slow with current shortages) and finally picked up some 100TTSX but my rifle is very old and the barrel is shot out and so im going to replace it but thats an impressive velocity increass for that projectile that would be worth the AI chamber. That would really extend the terminal velocity range of that bullet by another 100yards or maybe 200 over standard loads.
I think. At least.... Thats why im exploriw the idea of getting the AI chamber.

How far are you shooting?

There are way more benifits to AI'ing other than speed and IMO 50-100 fps is well worth it
Im new to reloading, brand new... Help me out here, my estimations is a slight improvement in velocity and trajectory but IMO 50fps doesnt seem worth it.
100fps gain seems to show some improvement, i was hoping for about 200fps gains would really improve the terminal velocity range of the projectiles.
